A Lancaster County Christmas – book review

Another Suzanne Woods Fisher book just in time for the holidays!!  I couldn’t wait to read this one! While reading the book, I decided that when we go to Pennsylvania next year I want to spend a good amount of time in Amish country. I’m hoping we can find an inn or house to stay at. Have you heard of Farmcation? I want to do an Amishcation. Is there such a thing?

On to the book:

Jaime and C.J. were only married a few years and their marriage already seemed like it was falling apart. Jaime had grandiose dreams of living in the city and following a career her long lost father wanted for her. C.J. was content and had no idea what Jaime had planned.

Mattie wanted to expand their Amish family and questioned God for why she could not conceive more children. Sol, Mattie’s husband was content to let things happen as they will.

The two couples end up sharing the Christmas holidays together and both couples learn from each other.

I really enjoyed this book. I enjoy all of Suzanne Wood Fischer books and this one did not disappoint. A Lancaster Country Christmas is a fairly short and easy read. I was kept in suspense here and there. It’s one of those books you just can’t put down. I would recommend this book to all.

My friends think Amish and they think “christian” or “religion”. While Suzanne Woods Fisher’s books have Amish quotes and speak about God, I wouldn’t necessary think of them that way. Her books tell of love, family and some have mystery or suspense. I can’t wait for the next one!

I received the book to facilitate this review, all opinions are my own.

  2. Hi Anne! So glad you enjoyed “A Lancaster County Christmas” and I loved that it made you want to visit Amish country! I think you’d really enjoy the visit–get off the main roads and into the country! And one tip–if a sign says Amish (like, “Amish Quilts for sale”)…it ain’t! The Amish don’t advertise themselves. Instead, look for hand written signs that say “Quilts for Sale” or “Crafts for Sale.” Anyway…thank you for being a part of the blog tour! Loved what you pointed out about the story. Warmly, Suzanne Woods Fisher

  3. Thanks for the review, this looks like a book I’ll have to be ordering.
