Being an adult is a tough gig. Between caring responsibilities, work commitments and keeping the house tidy, having enough time to catch up with your best friends can often seem like a distant pipe dream. However, it’s important to take a break from the daily grind once in a while to prevent the risk of burnout. The next time you and your girls have a Saturday night free, shake out that ponytail, put on your fiercest shade of red lipstick and try out some of these fabulous ideas:

Hit Up the Shisha Lounge

If you’re looking for something a bit different to your regular watering hole, shisha lounges make for the perfect intimate setting to unwind with your girlfriends. For an experience you won’t forget anytime soon, kick back amid sumptuous Middle East-inspired décor and try out a range of delicious shisha tobacco flavors with your crew. Many lounges also feature live music, belly dancers and authentic Mediterranean food options to create an exotic, luxurious vibe.

Try an Escape Room

Put your sleuthing skills to the test by booking an escape room for your next girls’ night. If you haven’t heard of this latest craze, it’s where you get locked into a themed room and have to solve riddles and find clues to make it out within a certain timeframe. Whether you’re a detective trying to catch a serial killer or a prisoner breaking out of jail, escape rooms are a fun and novel way of bonding with your pals (or finding out just how strong your friendships actually are!).

Visit a Karaoke Bar

If you feel like you were robbed of your career as the next pop starlet, bring your friends to your local karaoke bar and show off your chops. Regardless of your skill level, there’s nothing quite like jumping onstage with a couple of pals and belting out your favorite Whitney classics together. Paired with some cocktails and nibbles, you may just find yourself having the time of your life, and you’ve never felt this way before. Or, if karaoke isn’t your thing, but you still want to do something to do with music, go see a concert! How much fun would it be to see your favorite band or artist with the girls?! Plus, it’s super-easy to see what’s available through sites like TicketSmarter so you can get something planned and in the diary to look forward to.

Head to a Fancy Restaurant

Nothing spells “treat yourself” like visiting a fine dining restaurant. Put on your best cocktail dress and heels, and treat yourself to the divine sensory experience a five-course meal will offer you. You and your girls will have plenty of time to catch up over a bottle of rosé while soaking up the ambience of your chosen upmarket restaurant. You can then cap off the night by heading to a trendy bar, or staggering home in a food coma if that’s more your style.

Host a Movie Night

Technically this isn’t an idea for going out, but the introverted girls out there deserve some love too! If you and your friends aren’t big on getting dressed up and hitting the town, invite your nearest and dearest over to your house for a good old-fashioned movie night. Choose a theme like cheesy horror or ‘90s rom-coms, whip up a mega batch of popcorn and get excited for a relaxing night of flicks in your pyjamas.

Catching up with girlfriends provides a much-needed break from the stresses of life. Instead of heading out to the same old bar or restaurant the next time you all have a night free, give some of the above options a try. You’ll be sure to have a fantastic time together and be able to enter the next week feeling refreshed and re-energized.
