Don’t just recycle it… ReMake It!
RePlayGround is a company that takes discarded materials and brings them back to life! They take scrap and make it new – and they help you recycle, too. RePlayGround grew from the imagination of Tiffany Threadgould. In school she wrote a thesis titled “Trash Nouveau – reincarnating garbage into usable products.” And she’s been a Design Junkie ever since.
RePlayGround has neat little projects that help you recycle your own stuff. There is a kit to help you make stationery out of magazines, a lamp out of bottles and more.
RePlayGround gives a portion of their profits to organizations dedicated to helping preserve our environment. Most recently they supported Green Map, National Resources Defense Council, Sustainable South Bronx, and Trees for the Future.
We also belong to 1% for the Planet. Our events also have also qualified for a green listing with Greenopia.
Their website also has a do-it-yourself section where you can learn how to reuse discards all by yourself! Turn old glasses into picture frames, umbrellas into skirts, and more.
They also accept your old junk. Right now they are looking for : CDs, wool sweaters, neckties, buttons, computer keyboard keys and much more. Check out their site for more information. Make sure ask before you send stuff in to make sure they still need it.
RePlayGround send me a ReMake Its Wine Cork Trivet.
I don’t drink wine very often (almost never), but my parents do. It was very easy to make. I going to save it and give it as a gift to someone special(I won’t say who). What a clever idea. I’d really like to get the Stationery project to make cool notes and envelopes out of all my free magazines!

I work in a technology dept so we throw out CDs all the time! I'm going to contact them about sending them some. I've been making envelopes out of cool magazine pictures for awhile, as well as out of my son's many fingerpainting projects. Great ideas!
