Have you ever been to Kissimmee? Well I’ve been more time than I can remember. I live in south Florida and it is the pass through to Disney. So I’ve been going since I was a little girl. We always used to stay there and still would, except we bought a timeshare just outside.
Any way there is so much to do there. Kissimmee is the home of Old Town Shops and Dining. There are rides and that crazy bungee thing. OMG that looks so scary. My stepson, Adam and his girlfriend went on it a few years ago. I couldn’t watch. Old Town also have hotels nearby, that’s where my husband and I stayed on our first vacation with the boys, what 17 years ago. It so nice to have everything nearby.
We also went there as part of our honeymoon. Kissimmee has several places to go for canoe rides, air boats rides, horseback riding and hiking. We decided to go on a canoe ride and I was so scared we would see an alligator! Of course we hit Pleasure Island, which is right there. All the great attractions like Disney and Universal and Sea World are literally minutes away. Plus don’t get me started on the shops, of course I usually shop the outlet malls. When I was pregnant with Hunter my mother and I went a little crazy at Carters and Osh Kosh.
Kissimmee is the Heart of Florida. Next to Orlando, close to everything, including the beaches (Atlantic Ocean is just about an hour away; Gulf Coast less than a 2-hour drive). Plan your next vacation to Kissimmee.
The next time we go Disney, I want to try and go horseback riding. Hunter hasn’t done that yet and I haven’t in years. Savannah will probably be too small though. It would also be so cool to go to an Atlantic Braves game. My husband loves the Braves.
What’s your Kissimmee story?
When I was a junior in high school, my parents decided to up and move to Florida (from WV). We lived in the Port-o-Call campground in Kissimmee. I attended Gateway High School and worked at Disney World during the Christmas Season. We woke up on Christmas morning in a camper to 30 degrees and no heat, water, or electric. Plus I had to work that day. We eventually moved back home in January after 4 months.

I have yet to go to Florida, although we are planning on going for a week this summer. Looking forward to it.
