I was asked recently to think of the best give I ever gave. What about the best gift I ever received? I received my engagement ring for Christmas many years ago. My children are the best gifts EVER. Especially the last one, a little girl after 4 boys. My little laptop my mom bought me, just because. But what about what I gave?

While I’ve given many gifts (5 kids) with super happy reactions, I don’t think these qualify. There’s the basketball hoop my son received. The Gameboy DS and a whole slew of other toys. But what about a small meaningful gift. I did give a gift to my middle stepson last year, that apparently does qualify. Why? Because he told me it was the best gift he’d ever received. Now when this comes from a 3 year old or a ten year old or even a teenager, those words can come and go. When a 23 year old tells you this, it must be so.

What did I give him? It was a simple present really. It is one that I made (with a little help). It’s one that I’ve given to others without the same reaction.

A photo book from Shutterfly.

That’s it. I made him a book from the previous year’s photos of our family. He really enjoyed that book and I plan on giving him another one this year. This year, many family members will be getting photo gifts. SSHHHHH!!!!

I don’t want to just sing Shutterfly’s praises. I like Snapfish too. These gifts are beautiful and will last forever. This year I’ve made calenders, mugs, books and little flip books. Next year I may make some puzzles for the kids.I definitely recommend them!

  1. It's so hard to try to say, what was the best gift I ever gave!Their is one that my mom really loved!Last year I gave her a bench for her yard! She loves to just sit out their and enjoy the scenery!

  2. The best gift that "Santa" has ever given was this year. Santa got a great deal on Remote Control Buzz at Toys R Us Express. The Target one was two inches bigger and a price tag of $129. (only dropped to $79 a week before x-mas).

Santa started early this year and went shopping on black Friday! Toys R Us was insane the night before so ran up to the express store by us the next day. There were plenty at $35 and I had a $3 birthday coup that was still good. Regular price was $80 plus we bribed him with this for potty training and sent him to Santa to ask for it because it was a big boy toy! Well worth the $ because we are down to one pack of diapers a month for bed.
