Sundials and Gardens

What are sundials? I’ve seen them before and never really thought much about them other than they’re pretty. Sundials have been around pretty much since man started keeping track of time. The Romans and Greeks used them to track the sun and moon on a daily basis. But today, sundials are sued as decoration in gardens.

I’ve been wanting to plane a garden for a while now and I think this summer I’ll actually get to do it. I found a website that has some cool Brass Sundials. The brass is traditional material that ages well and stands up to the sun and the rain. Here in South Florida, this is what I need. They also have other materials, such as iron, aluminium and resin. All are quite pretty.

They also have Armillary Sundials. Armillary Sundials are different the the normal flat sundials. They are open and airy and quite beautiful!

My favorite, I think, are the sundials that are on a base. Do you have a garden? Do you have a sundials?

I like those. We do not have one. My husband does sculpture work and is going to make something someday. When he ever gets a moment. Such a busy guy! http://redcrucible.blogspot.com/
