Yesterday was exactly a week that we have been in the new house. I unloaded about seven more boxes just yesterday. It’s amazing how much stuff we have, kind of ridiculous really.
(all that clutter on the island is going to drive me insane!)
How does one family accumulate so much?
The move was a little rough….Not everything fit into the truck, so we had to get a trailer and then it still didn’t fit. We left some stuff behind, threw away some stuff and put 2 car loads into storage. Yes – we still have stuff in storage in our old home town. Ughh!
We got to the new house around 9:30pm last Thursday and my husband went out to Walmart and bought some blow up mattresses to sleep on. I wanted to stay at the house with the kittens as opposed to a hotel room.
Friday, when the men came to unload the truck, we had the painter here as well, painting the house! It was a hectic, but good day.
(look how cute Savannah’s room turned out!)
Now a week later, we are settling in. Hunter started his new school and likes his new teachers and friends. He likes playing the woods. 🙂 Savannah is getting used to the house and being home with mommy. I feel like I should be working, but am enjoying my time with Savannah.
Savannah will start VPK, a state funded pre-kindergarten, in August and I may go back to work then, if not sooner. I am so not use to being home all this time. But it’s good I have the time to unpack and meet the neighbors.
The garage has the most boxes to unpack. I’m holding off on most of this, until we can get some more shelving. We also need to get a dining room table and a TV for the living room.Oh and a bed for Savannah.
My favorite part of the house? My foyer, silly…but at the old house I never had one. The front door opened into the living room. I love this!
We found a table at Pier One that we both like…. what do you think?
It’s kinda an old farmhouse type table, that could seat up to eight people. I like it cause it doesn’t have a leaf in it and it’s kinda simple. They have some really cool chairs too.
Love that table. It’s simple and you can easily dress it up or keep it simple. Good choice.
I love Pier One and I love that table!
I hate unpacking. I like to get it all done as quick as possible.
Oh gosh! I’ve moved so much (w/ the hubs in the military it’s inevitable) I kind of go crazy when we first move in and really all I do is unpack so that within a week we’re all unpacked and settled. I can’t help it. You’re doing great!! I love that table!
Love the table and the paint in each room you’ve shown!
You sound like me with having to rent a trailer and still not fitting. I left a TON behind but I couldn’t get it because it was Michigan. 🙁 I also have a HUGE storage facility packed to the gills here.
You are doing great for only being in the house a week! It takes me forever!!
Your new house looks wonderful! Have fun organizing it!
Unpacking is the worst at least you are making progress.
so excited for you. Don’t worry things will come along and you’ll all settle into your happy home nicely. COngrats on the movie. Enjoy the decorating
Congrats on the new home! You are doing a great job getting settled. (And I love the table too)
We still have stuff in boxes and we moved 2 summers ago! Lol
Looking good!
Looks very nice!
You are doing better than I would be!
love that table and the two tone purple room, so pretty! Hope things settle into a normal routine soon. I totally feel you on having a lot of stuff! We sold half our house when we moved to florida and still managed to take up most of the room in a house that was bigger than the one we lived in LOL
Everything looks great! I bet it feels good to start settling in 🙂
definitely better than I would be doing, that’s for sure. That table is pretty sweet.
Love the table – the house is looking great! So exciting to be in a new home!
Looks so organized and streamlined now.
Love the table and feel for you and the move, we have been here about 6 months and I am still feeling not 100% moved in!
I don’t envy you all the unpacking, etc., but congrats again on your new home!!!
Ugh, so frustrating that you had to leave stuff behind.
We will be moving next week and I’m NOT looking forward to it at all.
Looks like the painters did such a good job.
I love your home (what I can see of it) and that table!

Love the new house, the colors in it are great! The table is beautiful. We have a very similar one, only ours is darker wood. We bought chairs to match at target and they were a pretty good price.
Your new home looks great!
