I was just talking to my husband about all the extra things we have to buy for my son this year. He will be going into middle school and will need a lock.
My best advice for keeping items safe is to not take valuable items to school! I know it’s hard to keep all those fun items at home, especially when kids like my son will want to play his iPod on the bus, but it’s too easy to lose at school. Don’t forget to actually lock up your stuff and don’t give friends your combination!
Check out Master Lock for some great tips and new products!! They are even on Facebook -http://www.facebook.com/masterlock.

You’re right. Leaving items at home is the BEST advice!
Having the lock… and LOCKING it… are very important.
I had a lock in high school — and I agree … leave the really expensive toys at HOME!
Hard to imagine it was SO many years ago that I had to lock my locker at school. LOL.
Thanks…I used to use them for my locker as a kid.
My son is entering the 4th grade so he won’t have a locker, yet. But I don’t allow him to take anything important or of value in his backpack.
Wow! Locks have sure come a long way! That one looks so fancy!
What a great looking lock! SO different from what I had in high school.
I remember those locks. I was never good w/ combinations…just hated them. LOL!
I love the look of the lock, at our school they have to purchase the school locks no store bought locks.
My children don’t have lockers yet since they are still in elementary.
Definitely leave it at home if it’s super valuable.
Yes, my oldest has been forbidden to bring anything expensive to middle school this year.
heck, i wasnt even allowed to bring my favorite stuffed animal to kindergarten because my mom said i would lose it, forget something monetarily valuable. kids dare eachother to,do stupid things and steal, they can just take it from backpack
Kids these days have a ton of expensive electronics such as ipods, iphones, and handheld gaming devices… They really shouldn’t bring that stuff to school, but if they do then at least they should keep it locked up in a safe place.
