When I first got the press release for Mia and the Magoo movie, I was drawn in by the graphics. This film is hand painted and absolutely beautiful as art.
My daughter and I sat and watched as Mia, a young girl goes in search of father after having a premonition. All the dangerous things she did was a little scary as she traveled trough mountains and jungles. Her father meanwhile was trapped in a construction site on a remote tropical island in the middle of a lake. The Tree of Life is in the middle of the lake and protected by the forest spirits called the Migoo. They can grow and change shape. The Migoo are disturbing a construction site in order to protect the Tree of Life. The construction site is being run by an angry man who has seemed to forget about being a father to his young son.
Mia meets up with the boy and together with the Migoo they try to find Mia’s dad and save the Tree of Life.
My favorite part was when Mia met up with the witch, whose voice is Whoopi Goldberg. It was a scary part for my daughter, but something about it made me smile. Maybe cause I could picture Whoppi playing the part.
From the distributors of the Academy Award®-nominated The Secret of Kells, comes MIA AND THE MIGOO, the gorgeous second feature from renowned French animator Jacques-Rémy Girerd. A fable-like journe was drawn in by the graphics.y of a young girl who must overcome her fears on a quest to find her father and save the world from destruction, MIA AND THE MIGOO was created from an astounding 500,000 hand-painted frames of animation. A stunning work of art, breathtaking to behold, with backgrounds that invoke Van Gogh, Monet, and Cezanne, it also features the voices of Whoopi Goldberg, Matthew Modine, James Woods and Wallace Shawn.
