Did I ever tell you how my husband became retired from firefighting/paramedic?
He was injured at work.
We was on a call and it was raining. He was coming out of the house with the equipment and bam! He went flat on his back and hit his head on the step.
The Trauma Hawk was called in and everything. Of course, here I am at home with my 6 month old baby and I get a call in the middle of the night, saying your husband is alright but….he’s in the hospital.
Thankfully, he was in a union and I swear the firefighter’s have the best union and insurance. Accidents at work claims can be a hassle for some, but for us if was pretty easy. They took care of everything! My husband stayed on work compensation for two years then had to take a settlement, as he was not cleared to go back to work as a firefighter. I still think he should have taken a desk job…
Need help from a work related claim, check out Irwin Mitchell.
This is a partnered post, but a true story!
Sadly, firefighters in many localities are fighting to keep good insurance.
I’m glad he’s ok – what a great profession for him to be in now!
Oh wow, I’m glad that he was ok. I would be a wreck if I ever got a call like that.
I’m so glad he’s ok.
So glad he’s okay my dad was a firefighter too
I’m sorry that happened to him! It’s a good thing he had decent insurance.
SO glad he had good insurance!
Thank goodness it wasn’t worse, but that DOES suck!
So glad to hear your husband is okay.
Oh my gosh. I’m so glad your husband is alright.
Oh thank goodness he is okay and that you had insurance.
That is so scary! Glad he is okay!
On the job injuries are horrible.
Ouch!!! that had to hurt . Glad that he has good insurance sometimes it makes all the difference. My hubby was hurt at work a couple times. Being in road construction it’s almost a monthly issue. I wish he’d be more careful
I’m grateful that he recovered but it stinks that he wasn’t recovered enough to go back to work. I can see how important that insurance would have been for you!
I’m sorry this happened to him 🙁
what is he doing now? glad he wasnt even more seriously injured.
My husband works for a telecommunications company and they have to deal with Tower deaths. Scary stuff. I wont let him climb anymore.
How scary. I always get worried by husband will get hurt while on the job.
I’m so sorry his career was cut short, but glad he’s okay!
Yikes, that must have been scary.
It can be very scary when you’re injured (on or off the job). My step-dad used to work in the coal mines years ago… and my Mom was always scared.
Good to know for future reference. I just hope we don’t need it!
what a scary call to get….glad he was ok
Oh, goodness!!!
That is so scary! I am glad to see he is ok.
Such a simple thing can become so bad! I can’t imagine having him as a firefighter and getting a call that he was in the hospital!
