I was sent a copy of this book to review.
I usually don’t go for books set in the past, but this book intrigued me. This book is set in the WWII era.
Dr. Michah Hatcher is working with his brother, who is overseas, together bringing abandon Jewish children over to America for a better life. Michah does this in secrecy along with a local synagogue. He also serves the immigrants through a clinic in New York, who can not afford proper health care.
Lydia Elderidge was a self-centered, selfish nurse who met Dr. Hatcher in Hawaii. Lydia changed when her best friend dies during child-birth and Lydia was asked to care for the child and protect him from his father.
Lydia and Michah meet up again and help each other and fall in love.
I really enjoyed Sweet Sanctuary by Kim Vogel Sawyer. She presents the characters in such a way that you feel like you are a part of their lives. I look forward to reading more novel by Kim Vogel Sawyer.
