Last Friday I mentioned to my daughter that maybe we would get the Halloween stuff down from the attic. Well Sunday came and she insisted we get the decorations down and decorate! I can’t blame her. It’s exciting for little ones to get ready for Halloween. We made a day of it! My son helped me get the boxes down and my daughter started opening them and looking inside.
We hung up all the decorations and window clings all over the house. Of course she had to dress up too!
Then it was time to make some Halloween treats! I was sent a huge box of Hershey chocolates and wanted to make something special with them. I searched Pinterest and found some cute ideas. We made acorns, witch fingers and broom sticks. Find more ideas at Hersheys.com.
The acorns were really easy to make. You will need Hershey Kisses, mini wafers and peanut butter morsels. Melt a few morsels in a glass bowl in the microwave to use as your “glue”. Dip the Kiss into the “glue” and attach to wafer and then do the same with the morsel. Then refrigerate until set.
For the broom sticks, all you need are the small pretzel sticks and some Rolos or Miniature Reece’s. Dip the pretzel stick into your “chocolate glue” and stick into the candy. Cool until set. We also dipped some Peppermint Patties into orange chocolate and painted faces on them and cut the Scream Eggs in half and made lollipops.
So after playing with the candy and making all kinds of goodies, we headed outside to decorate the yard. My daughter had fun dictating what went where. She will be a handful to some man one day!
It was a long day, but it was fun! Now we are all set to enjoy the holiday!
Have you decorated yet?
Your lawn is adorable!!! And the treats look YUMMY and fun to make!
We love Halloween… all the decorating and making treats! I love your little helper, too!
That is a lot of candy!! I love the acorns!
What fun mother/daughter time! Happy Halloween!
Oh my goodness she looks so happy with those candy bags 🙂 What a fun way to spend time together. We don’t decorate for Halloween, just a little bit for Thanksgiving, but I go all out at Christmas.
We have similar ghosts hanging from our tree out front…my kids really like to decorate, so this year I’ve made a big effort to go a little crazy with the decorations.
Those Rolo/Reese’s broomsticks are so cute…I think we’ll make some of those, too!
You guys are SET! We haven’t really decorated yet (what am I waiting for?!) but I have been making Halloween treats! So delicious!
What fun treats I love the broom stick idea!!! I need to get all my Fall and Halloween decor out and get deocorating!!!
So cute! We will make a bunch of treat bags for the neighborhood kids, but I love these for Halloween treats for a party. Great ideas – thanks!
I just love decorating for Halloween and all of the treats you made look so yummy!
We have decorated — and made lots of Halloween treats!
It’s supposed to stay nice this week where I live, so I plan to get out all my decorations. I really want to decorate a lot on the outside but the weather always turns icky right before Halloween, and everything either blows away or gets soaking wet.
Those are adorable pictures. Glad you’re almost ready for Halloween.
Oh, how fun, love everything you are doing!
What a fun time! All the goodies my sons will eat, they are going to love this holiday.
I love chocolate and caramel together, so I love Rolos and since pretzels are my favorite salty snack, I am SO on top of that one!
Now that’s a lot of candy and your photos are cute!
LOL I love the photo of her holding all the bags of candy, and love decorating for Halloween.
Mmm such fun festive Holiday candy treats. Great job
I love those witch brooms made with Rolos and mini Reese’s.
You did a great job! I might have to borrow some of your ideas!
That would be so much fun! I love the idea of the acorns — I love nilla wafers!
I love the little acorn treats.
What fun treats! I think the broomsticks are my favorite.
Fun ideas for the treats! We haven’t started decorating yet. I tried to find the Halloween box this morning but couldn’t. I’ll have to ask my husband when he gets home.
