I'm a mother of 2 who likes to get involved in too much! Besides writing here I started a non-profit, I'm on the PTO board, very active in my community and volunteer in the school. I enjoy music, reading, cooking, traveling and spending time with my family. We just adopted our 3rd cat and love them all!

That’s awesome. It is so important to get kids learning about community service!
FANTASTIC! I bet they even had a little bit of fun, too!
They sure did!
This is wonderful! My husband and I have been talking about doing something like this as a family but plan to wait a few more years to ensure all three of our children are old enough to comprehend their act of service and how fortunate they are.
What a great thing to do as a family! It’s so important to teach children how to give back to their community.
Fantastic family service project! Giving back is something I want to teach mine as early as possible.
What a great thing to get your children involved in! I’ve been trying to help out more in my community as well!
That is so great! I bet they had fun to.
That is so wonderful! I love the pictures too!
you guys are awesome! This has been on my “to do” list for years. I really need to make it happen.
Great lesson for the kids and a nice spread for the needy.
This is awesome! I would love to do something like this with my kids.
Wow, that’s an amazing experience for all of you. I’m sure the lessons will stick with them for years to come!
What a wonderful activity for you all to get involved in. Our daughter used to prep food and serve at the Salvation Army back when we lived in South Dakota, We haven’t found a facility here in our new home yet for her to get involved in like that, this post is a good reminder for us to do that!
That is great and it will be easy to fulfill the community service hours for high school if they have that up there. What a great thing to do with your kids.
Yes, we had one teenager there that needed hours.
Sweet. What a great feeling, I’m sure, that all of you received when you helped someone else.
It is so nice to see people helping out like this!! We don’t have a homeless shelter near us, but I have always wanted to go find one and help out. We didn’t come from much money and had hard times here and there, so I know what it feels like to be hungry. Plus it is nice they can come in from the weather too!!
How great that your kids were able to help out with this and learn the importance of giving back!
This is fantastic! My sister is 16 and still in youth at church…they all bring different dishes and go feed the homeless in the park downtown.
I love that your family did this. What a great example to the younger kids
How awesome! It’s so nice that you did it as a family, and I love the look on your children’s faces… you can really see how happy they are helping others and a sense of pride in themselves. 🙂
What an awesome opportunity to serve! I’ve been thinking about this lately and wondering what we can do. We have a food pantry we’ve donated to and a women’s shelter but I’d love to find a soup kitchen sort of thing so our kids can actually serve the people.
It was a wonderful experience for us all!
I think that’s absolutely wonderful! And it’s great that your kids were involved. Last month me, my husband and my teenage son helped out making food and preparing lunch for an organization that feeds the needy. It was a humbling experience.
That is so great that your family is so involved in helping the needy. Your kids look so happy to be there- that warms my heart.
That is wonderful! I’d love to do something like this sometime. Seeing people without tugs at my heartstrings.
That’s fantastic. It’s so good that they are taking the time to learn how to be charitable to others.
That is so wonderful and wonderful that your kids got involved!
Your kids are learning such an important lesson in giving back. I love that you do this!
I love that you got your kids involved. The makings of a great next generation!
Looks like a wonderful experience! I’d love to do something like this with my kids!
What awesome kids, and so sweet of you all to volunteer your time. It is so important to teach our children about giving back at a young age.
Fantastic opportunity for all — we have talked about doing this as a family …. this post definitely pushes me to it!
I love this. We called last year about volunteering at a local shelter and they were totally booked for volunteers from the high school kids working on their community service requirements for school credit. It’s wonderful to teach such important messages to children.
That is so sweet. I love that your children are helping. You are doing a good job mama!
