Thankful, Book Two in the Return to Sugarcreek series was a nice and easy read. I love these books. No super thinking – just like watching a movie in my head. I’ve been reading Amish books for a couple years now and I still love them! Shelley Shepard Gray is a great writer and the reader always fells like they are right there in the story. I did not read the first book in this series but there is no need to. Each book tells it’s own story. Thankful actually has three stories in one. I liked how the author goes back and forth between the three stories.
Christina Kempf has always known that God chose Aden Reese to be her husband. As children, he was there to save her when she fell through the ice, and he’s been by her side ever since. After his parents died in a car accident ten years ago, the Kempfs raised Aden as one of their own, and everyone sees Aden and Christina as brother and sister. But Christina has never given up hope that Aden will one day ask her to be his wife.
Aden always planned to court Christina. But losing his mother and father changed everything—except his love for her. Her parents generously welcomed him into their home and treated him like a son. He can’t betray their kindness by admitting his feelings for the girl who is like a sister . . . yet so much more.
Pressured by her parents to court, Christina begins to accept the attentions of Sugarcreek’s young men, and now, Aden must make a choice. Will he stand by and watch the love of his life slip away? Or will he risk losing the love and trust of the family he holds dear to tell Christina how he truly feels?

Because of you I’m starting to love Amish books too
Awesome! I just love the simplicity of their life. Not that’s easy mind you. 🙂
I like the simplicity of their value system…life is never easy, but it’s certainly better if you know who you are and what is important to you 🙂
I don’t think I”ve heard of this author or this series. Sounds like something I’d enjoy reading!
Looks like a great read! My mom loves books like these. I’ll have to tell her about it.
Ooh a trilogy, I’m going to see what this book is all about.
Sounds like a great read! I need to get up to reading and add this to the list!
This sounds like a very interesting book to read!
I’m going to have to start with these. I have a feeling they’ll make the perfect little escape, especially since they’re light and non-thinkers!
I’m not usually a fan of the back and forth but sometimes it does add to a story.
I haven’t had time to read a book in a long time. I starting a TBR list for when my daughter is in college in fall and I am alone all day hopefully with plenty of time to read!
This one looks like it could make me a little weepy. Sounds like a good read though.
I’m glad book two lived up to the same great writing. Sometimes it’s really nice to have those simple stories where you don’t have to think too hard and can just enjoy them.
I haven’t read much fiction lately. This sounds like a nice, easy, fun read.
I’ve never read Amish books/stories before, but I am looking for some light reading and this sounds like it would fit the bill!
The Amish lifestyle is so intriguing and I think I would really enjoy a good novel on the culture as well.
I’ve never read any Amish books. I do have one on my bookshelf but haven’t gotten to it yet.
I love books that are easy to read. I’ll have to pick up this series.
I have always found the Amish to be intriguing. Maybe I’ll have to pick up a book like this sometime soon. 🙂
