Sickness happens often in my home. I have a 7 year old in 1st grade, and a 4 year old in preschool who loves to put his fingers in his mouth. My 7 year old daughter has not been as sick as my 4 year old boy. Times have been very tough with him every since he was a newborn.

He decided to arrive 3 weeks early, was a very good size baby at 7 lbs 13oz, however his little lungs were not ready yet. In the NICU he stayed and it was touch and go for awhile. He came home on my birthday (best present EVER) a very healthy baby thank the heavens. Every since he was about 6 months old he has developed high fevers. His fevers have been as high as 104.5, and ALWAYS happens in the middle of the night!  Cue crazy panic mode for this mom, especially since my husband works the night shift, so I am all alone with my sick baby and his older sibling. He is almost 5 years old now and still gets the occasional 104 fever. It really helps talking to other parents and to feel assured that I am not alone in this!

As part of their Sick just got real.TM campaign, the pediatric brands of Pfizer Consumer Healthcare have released a video depicting a small glimpse of what moms may feel and experience when their child is under the weather. Please take a moment to check out this video, it really hit home for me! I have felt like this many, many times. Even though life can get crazy with sickness, I am so blessed to have my 2 amazing children. They make every day worth living.  🙂

  25. My #sickjustgotreal moment was recently when our little one caught a winter flu bug at school, and was running temps up to 104 for two days. The doctor just said to keep using Advil, which did help but as soon as the time was over…it went right back up. Thanks to Advil for helping to make him comfortable and bringing down his temp. Normally when he is sick he still wants to play, but not this time. He hardly got out of bed. So hard to see your little ones so sick.

  26. Emily Smith says

My three boys have to share a room and they have a triple bunk. The oldest sleeps on top and one night he woke up just in time to throw up over the side, but it got on all three beds. It’s bad enough to deal with that stuff in the middle of the day, but in the middle of the night was a nightmare. I had to move all three of them into the living room at 2:30 in the morning so I could clean the mess and put their bedding in the wash. Over the next week, the sickness made its round through all five of us. It was like a puke apocalypse in our house. ((((shuddder)))) #sickjustgotreal
