NETFLIX: DUST OFF YOUR “SHELFIES” FOR FALL

I am a Netflix Stream Team Member.

Netflix

I love to watch TV. Love my drama tv shows but hardly get to watch them because I am a busy mom. During the day I am tied up volunteering at my daughter’s school or doing house work, at night I am making dinner and then want to spend my time with the kids. I need to start making some “TV” time for myself and catch up on some Netflix shows. Time to dust off my “Shelfie.” You may be asking yourself what a Shelfie is? A Shelfie is a virtual shelf of shows that you have been wanting to watch, but haven’t had the time. Netflix has a great line up of tv shows to catch up on. Whether you have watched some episodes already, or just starting out, you will not be disappointed. I am going to share with you the top 3 shows I want to either catch up on, or start watching this Fall.

Scandal

#1 SCANDAL I have been hearing awesome things from friends about this show, and have seen previews and the show looks amazing. Kerry Washington (who I love in movies) is the main character named Olivia Pope. The show takes place in Washington, D.C. and focuses on Olivia Pope’s crisis management firm, Olivia Pope & Associates (OPA), and its staff, as well as staff at the White House, which includes President Fitzgerald Grant III, Chief of Staff Cyrus Beene, and First Lady Mellie Grant. This show has received numerous awards, and had been renewed for a fifth season.

Once_Upon_a_Time

#2 Once Upon A Time I watched the first season of this show and I absolutely loved it! I love Disney, so once I heard that this show was based on some of the Disney Characters I was hooked. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to keep up with the show, so this is on my Shelfie list! The show takes place in the fictional seaside town of Storybrooke, Maine, whose residents are characters from various fairy tales transported to the “real world” town and robbed of their real memories by a powerful curse. This show really did keep me hooked to it and wanting more. I am excited to catch up on the episodes. The show displays the growth of relationships between the doctors, either friendly or sexual, often stemming to a clash between their personal and professional lives.

Grey_s_Anatomy

#3 Grey’s Anatomy I am probably the “odd man out”, but I have never seen any episodes of Grey’s Anatomy. I am always hearing about the show, so I am looking forward to watching. This show follows the lives of surgical interns and residents at the fictional Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital (formerly Seattle Grace Hospital, Season 1–6, Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital, Season 6–9, and then Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital, Season 9– present), as they gradually evolve into seasoned doctors, with the help of their competent mentors. Need some shelfie suggestions? Check out the great library of fall shows you can stream this month on Netflix.

Fun Lunch Ideas for Kids in Elementary School

Summer goes by way too fast, before you know it we are preparing to send the kids back to school! This also means time to think about what to pack the kids for lunch. My 4 year old son is pretty picky when it comes to what he wants for lunch, and trying to make his lunch a healthy one is sometimes a chore. I have found a few fun ideas to make lunches more fun for kids to eat.

Caterpillar Fruit Kabobs These are fun and very simple for adults to make, the kids can even make them! You just need grapes, strawberries, wood skewers, sugar eyes and frosting to hold the eyes on to the strawberry. If you don’t want to send these in on the wooden skewer, they would still be cute without! http://indulgy.com/post/5SbdWHdHt2/could-use-after-reading-the-very-hungr

Apple Sandwiches with Granola and Peanut Butter if your child isn’t a fan of bread then these are awesome sandwiches to take to school. They look fun to eat and are very tasty. All you need for this one is Apples, Peanut or Almond butter, Granola & optional Chocolate Chips. This would also make a great after school snack! www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipe/apple-sandwiches-granola-and-peanut-butter

For this one all you need is cream cheese, tortillas, lunchmeat of choice, cheese of choice, and ranch dressing! Add lollipop sticks and your kids will love these! http://homecookingmemories.com/kid-lunch-ideas-tortilla-pinwheel-lollipops/

Silly Face Sandwich There are easy and adorable, plus the kids can make them into any silly face they want! For these the possibilities are endless. For example, you can use blueberries or olives for the eyes, grapes or carrots for nose, and pepper slices for the mouth! Kids will love all the crazy combinations they can come up with. http://www.kixcereal.com/kix-cereal-fathers-day-food-artsandwiches-for-dad/

Traffic-Jam

Apple Race-cars Kids will love these!! You can use all different types of food for the wheels. Bananas, round apple slices, kiwi slices or even string cheese! For a sweet treat you can add marshmallows! http://www.woojr.com/fun-apple-snacks/

These are all great options for picky and non picky eaters! Your child will enjoy lunchtime at school and have a full tummy.

Nestlé Crunch Girl Scout Candy Bars Review

I am a proud supporter of the Girl Scouts, especially their delicious cookies. I am always buying boxes of cookies each year because my family and I really enjoy them. I seem to never buy enough, and when I run out I am counting down the days until the next cookie sale. Now when I have that craving for a particular cookie I can have it in candy bar form! These delicious candy bars are called Nestle Crunch Girl Scout Cookie Candy Bars.

images-1
These limited edition cookie candy bars come in three flavors:
Thin Mint: Dark chocolate cookie wafers and mint chocolate creme topped with airy crisps and a rich, dark chocolatey coating.
Caramel& Coconut: Cookie wafers layered with coconut caramel creme and chewy caramel, topped with toasted coconut and drizzled with caramel strips.
Peanut Butter Creme: Cookie wafers layered with smooth peanut butter creme, topped with airy crispies and a creamy, chocolatey coating.

Now through September, Nestle Crunch Girl Scout Candy Bars are available nationwide, wherever candy bars are sold but when they’re gone, they’re gone! Each variety is sold as a single bar ($0.99 MSRP) or fun-size bars in a new take-home bag ($3.49 MSRP).
The flavor I tried is the Thin Mint cookie flavor.
The chocolate surrounding the bar is very smooth, and the taste when I bit into the bar is a delicious combination of chocolate and mint. This bar is very close indeed to a Girl Scout Thin Mint cookie. I wouldn’t exactly describe it as a candy bar after eating it, more so like a wafer bar I would say. Both of my children tried the bars and really enjoyed the flavor as well.

Each package of candy bars contains two mini bars, so you can have one now, and save the rest for later. You can even share with a friend. That I do like so you don’t feel like you have to eat the whole bar at once. In conclusion, I was very satisfied with these candy bars. I can’t wait to try the other flavors. The Thin Mint ones will stay in my pantry for the days I have a craving for the Girl Scout Cookies.

Are you local to Mommy Has to Work? I have some Nestle Crunch Girl Scout Candy Bars to giveaway! To enter just leave a comment here with your favorite Girl Scout Cookie!

My children who are 7 and 4 years old were very excited about season 2 because they have already watched season 1. They loved the new episodes. They were constantly laughing with all of the humor in the episodes. The episodes are very colorful and animated which held their attention the whole time. They are hoping that Netflix brings
out Season 3 soon!

NETFLIX DRAGONS: RACE TO THE EDGE

I am a member of the Netflix Stream Team.

Unknown

My family loves Netflix, especially my children. They have watched both movies “How To Train Your Dragon” 1 & 2. When we heard that a new series of episodes, called “Dragons: Race To The Edge” by Dreamworks, was coming out they were very excited to watch!

This 13-episode series features Hiccup (Jay Baruchel), Astrid (America Ferrera) and the rest of the familiar characters from Cressida Cowell’s books. This series is both a prequel and sequel of sorts, set between the first and second film. The action picks up about a year before How to Train Your Dragon 2 when Hiccup is roughly 19 years old. Netflix sent me an awesome box filled with goodies to enjoy while watching the episodes.

We received a blow up sword, which my son loves, and also fun photo mask props! Another fun way to enjoy your treats while watching is label them with fun meanings to the movie, we received Doritos labeled “Dragon Scales” and Bugles labeled “Dragon Claws.” These made it very exciting for my kids to enjoy with the episodes. We also received a really cool lunch box & chalk for outside. My kids enjoyed drawing dragons and swords with the chalk.

My 7 year old and 4 year old both LOVED these episodes. They are asking for them again and again to be watched! My husband even sat down for most of the episodes and enjoyed them as well. If your children loved both Dragon movies, they will surely loves these episodes!!
