My husband and I are always using pens in our home. We have a drawer filled of them and unfortunately most are disposable. I hate just tossing them into the trash and would prefer to use refillable pens. I was contacted to review refillable gel pens made out of recycled bottles.

Here is some information about the B2P Gel Roller Pens:

  • Made from 89% recycled content
  • Vibrant G2 Gel Ink for smooth, effortless writing
  • Meets ISO 14001 and 14021 standards
  • Available in vivid colors as well as black, blue and red ink.
  • Retractable and Refillable with G2 Refills

Bottle-2-Pen (B2P) is the world’s first pen made from recycled bottles.  Approximately 2.5 million plastic bottles enter landfills every hour in the United States, and comprise close to 50% of all recyclable waste. Pilot manufactures B2P gel ink pens from 89% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles. Pilot’s B2P pens write smoothly, have vibrant inks are and are 100% refillable. So you can write the next chapter for a cleaner planet with B2P.

I’m a fan of Pilot products, and their idea of recycling bottles into pens is awesome. I received a vivid multi color pack which includes Purple, Blue, Dark green, Light green and Pink. I also received a Red two pack. They are 0.7mm fine tip. I love the colors, they are very bright and the ink gives a unique personal look.  The look of the pens is very cool, looks just like a water bottle with the ridges and all. The pen fits nicely in my hand, has a nice grip to it and is very comfortable to write with. The ink comes out nice and smooth and doesn’t smear.

5 Activities To Do With Your Children On Earth Day! #EarthDay

image

What is Earth Day?

Earth Day was started in 1970 by a man named John Mc Connell from the United States. It was originally held on the annual celebration of the March Equinox and still is by many people. However, it is generally celebrated on April 22. Earth day is now celebrated worldwide.

Here are 5 ways you and your children can celebrate Earth Day!

Make a 3D Earth Day Paper Craft: This is very easy and your kids will have a great time making it. Please click here to check out how to make this craft.

Plant some new flowers: Have your children pick out some pretty flowers for the front of your home or for the back yard. Help them plant the flowers and discuss with them how important flowers are to the Earth.

Have your children help clean up a park or playground: Grab some bags and head out to the nearest park or playground and help clean up! Make it a game and see how much recyclables and/or trash your children can help clean up. Then they can have some fun on the playground or run around at the park!

Walk or take your bike instead of the bus or car: Bike or walk with your children to school on Earth Day. Discuss on your walk or bike ride about the pollutants that come from vehicles and how they are bad for the environment.

Start a Home Compost: Leftovers and food waste can be used to provide nutrient rich fertilizer for a sustainable garden. Learn everything you need to know about composting with GEF’s Gardening Resources and build your own compost bin.

Please comment below on how you will be celebrating Earth Day!

St. John’s Town Center Goes Green on Earth Day, April 22nd! @StJohnsTownCtr #Earthday

Cheers to planet Earth! Earth Day is Friday, April 22, and St. Johns Town Center plans to celebrate our planet in a big way by showcasing its current sustainability programs, hosting educational demonstrations and offering exciting giveaways throughout the day.

In honor of Earth Day, the Dick’s Sporting Goods courtyard will be transformed into an environmental fair complete with demonstrations and information from groups including The YMCA and UNF Public Health Department. Eastcoast Land Care will give away 100 trees to patrons interested in planting to commemorate the special event.

While Earth Day is celebrated only one day, St. Johns Town Center celebrates and supports sustainable living year round! Most recently, two electric vehicle charging stations have been installed on the property behind Jos. A. Bank store on Midtown Parkway.  Shoppers are able to “pull up and plug in” their vehicles at the charging station while they enjoy time at the mall. The center has also added free Tesla charging stations behind the Tesla store.

Additionally, the Shop Shuttlebug, which runs on an electric battery, transports shoppers from surrounding parking lots to their shopping destination on property. The 15-passenger Moto Electric Vehicle shuttle operates Fridays and Saturdays from 12 – 9 p.m. and Sundays from 12 – 6 p.m. The center recently added drinking fountains with bottle refill stations to the Wolfson’s play area, restroom next to Starbucks and in the park green, where misters can also be found. The center also offers cardboard recycling for tenants and recycling bins located throughout the property for everyday use. Even the landscaping at St. Johns Town Center is green! Drought-tolerant plants that require less water decorate the property, and plants are fertilized organically. Guests also have access to twelve bike racks, which can be found throughout the property, and paperless hand dryers in common-area restrooms.

“We want to reinforce our enthusiasm for going green and encourage our shoppers to do the same,” said Valerie Beaubrun, General Manager at St. Johns Town Center. “With all of our upcoming and existing eco-friendly initiatives, we are making it possible for even more people to make a positive difference when it comes to the environment.

Eco-Friendly Games for Kids

Unknown

The great outdoors, is as the name suggests, great. However it can also be cold, wet, miserable, too far, too steep, too flat and too everything. Kids playing is how they learn to get through life. What are we doing if our children only interact with technology instead of naturally occurring life?
We often think of getting a pet as a way of teaching children about life, however, the relationship between a pet and a person is different to the relationship with something that isn’t soft, furry and fond of attention. Some things are inanimate, they are closer to aliens than ourselves. Helping children to understand the complexities of nature can be a fulfilling activity. Planting a tree will not only offer opportunities to learn about the water cycle or photosynthesis but about stewardship and conservation.
By looking at our existing practices we can find ways to improve ecologically. Cooking is a great thing to do, get fresh ingredients, learn about the different types of seasonal fruits and vegetables (grow some) and make things to eat. Couldn’t be simpler. Don’t know how to shop green for your cooking? Here are some tips.
When you take a break from cooking, you could play simple eco-friendly games online. These games will use device resources minimally ensuring you don’t need to leave the phone or tablet while enjoying an hour of bingo for example. New game sites that are supposed to be launched from next year have games with emphasis on climate change and the eco-system. As concern continues to grow for our world it is great that companies are tackling issues and raising awareness in their own little ways.
Exploring gardens, taking walks, engaging in sports are the main activities that can be enjoyed without ecological harm. Large chain restaurants and business/leisure theme parks that dot the outskirts of cities are economical engines but ecological blights. It is the bind of current economic thinking, quantity not quality of growth.
Considering how Monopoly was invented to teach the perils of unlimited capitalism it is important that we teach our children how ecology fits into a larger picture of economy and action. These might seem like lofty or preachy goals but the current paradigm of majority opinion defends itself by insinuating snobbishness or pretension.
Arts and crafts are a traditional folk industry. Making things on a small independent scale is how our ancestors worked. Children are the same biologically as they forebears, there is therefore an argument that they should be allowed at least to explore living simple lives in harmony with their surroundings. Here is a look at how arts and craft can be beneficial to your kids.
Reaching to the stars is also possible, getting a telescope  can open up the skies to exploration. Tracking comets, satellites and even the ISS is feasible by combining technology with an observational experience. Make some games out of it. For those who want to supplant video games there is a genre of building games which act as simulators for cities and countries exposed to the risks of life in the world. Planning and a whole earth outlook can be fostered through using the right games.
