Get “Off” Me, You Mosquitoes!!

Living in Florida, you think I would be used to all the mosquitoes! Those little buggers love me! They love to bite me! But you know what? I don’t like them!!

That being said, I’m not a big fan of bug spray. I don’t like the way it smells. I don’t like it on me. I don’t like spraying it all over my kids. But it is necessary sometimes.

Tips to keep mosquitoes at bay:

Timing – Dusk to dawn are peak hours for mosquitoes.

Clothing – Wear long sleeve shirts and long pants. Wear light colors. Mosquitoes are attracted to dark colors.

Standing Water – Get rid of any water hanging around your house. Like those toys and buckets.

Guess what? Off! has come out with Off! Clip-On Mosquito Repellent!
It’s great, just hook it onto your shirt, shorts or jeans. It includes a quiet, battery powered fan that circulates an odorless repellent. It will cover you head-to-toe for up to 12 hours. If you move, just give it a few minutes to rebuild the protection. See, hubby wearing that cool new design proudly!!

I remember trying these last year and I would wear them while mowing the grass. This summer I’m wearing them on walks to the park in style!

So what did I think? I think I still need to use spray even with the new clip ons. We went to the park and I still got bit. But my daughter did not. Maybe I’m just sweeter? 🙂 Just kidding….

Please note: OFF! Clip-On is best used according to directions, and if you move allow a few minutes for protection to rebuild. It’s best to be used in stationary conditions.

Check out these fun new designs!!

The Vintage American Flag  and Camouflage. great for the guys!

Floral  and Vintage American Flag. More feminine.

Mark  your calendar for this once-in-a-lifetime event – monsters becoming  musicians! Elmo, The Count, Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Bert & Ernie  and all their funny and furry friends are taking to the stage to share  the magical world of music with children. When Jenny, the new Sesame  Street music teacher, moves into town, her instruments get lost. Jenny’s  new Sesame Street friends quickly come to her rescue, and they all  discover “instruments” that they never knew existed…rubber duckies,  trash can lids and even their own laps! The characters teach children,  and themselves, that everyone has the ability to make beautiful music,  whether they realize it or not. Don’t miss this opportunity to count  along with The Count, visit Elmo’s World and do the Crumb-A-Rumba with  Rosita and Cookie Monster at Sesame Street Live “Elmo Makes Music.”

The MOSH (Museum of Science and History) in Jacksonville

Being new to North Florida, we are loving finding new places to visit and explore. One such place is the Museum of Science and History(MOSH) in Jacksonville.

I’ve heard from several friends that this is a great place to take the kids. Some even have annual passes. I went on the website to check it out and found a few exhibits I definitely want to check out when we visit.

I love everything water, so the Water Worlds exhibit is on the list! The underwater world of the first coast in MOSH’s permanent aquarium exhibit. Multiple aquariums will represent the many fascinating water habitats and live aquatic animals found throughout Florida and beyond.

And who doesn’t like native animals. We are from South Florida, so I’m sure the animals are similar. Florida Naturalist’s Center houses all of MOSH’s resident live animals. Owls, snakes, turtles, tortoises, and alligators- just to name a few- are all native to Florida.

This one looks a little intimidating but fun! Enter The Body Within through MOSH’s larger than life mouth, stroll down the digestive tract, and exit out the rear! Learn all about our bodies and how they work with hands-on interactive fun. My girlfriend has to carry her son through here as he is frighten by the big mouth!

Also on my list the KidSpace, a big area to play and explore including a tree house! There is also a Planetarium, I’ve always wanted to visit one.

We are hoping to go this week to visit and explore. I have no doubt the kids and I will love it!

Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for children 3-12, BUT if you go on Fridays it’s only $5!!

Check out The MOSH on Facebook and Twitter too!

Fresh Produce Clothing Review

Summer is here and so is the need for comfortable clothing. I need something easy to care for and something that won’t leave me sweaty! Have you checked out Fresh Produce Clothing?  They have a variety of very comfortable clothing! I love them because they have a  great section –  Cover Ups for  Beach. Which is right up my alley. Beach and the pool. We’ve been to the pool several times a week this summer!

I was sent the  Impromptu Dress in Truffle. I’m always wearing dark colors, but when you look at their Dresses for Spring, they have such a beautiful selection of colors!

Checking out the Fresh Produce website, I found that most of the products are made right here in the USA, in California! The colors are created using reactive and pigment dying process, which gives each style a pre-shrunk, soft textured, vibrant look.  Because of this process, customers can trust that no garment will ever be exactly alike. The fabric is very soft and flowing. They have a variety of clothing, not just dresses.

I wore my dress the whole day and was very comfy in it. Although I’m not used to wear loose fitting clothes, I would love to get more dresses to wear to the pool. Like this one….

You can buy their products on line. Fresh Produce now ships to over 200 countries. Or you can go visit a store! There are several in Florida. The  Vacation Clothes Capital! Plus, I found one in St. Augustine. I am going to go check it out!

A Victorious Day!

Yesterday was a victorious day! Previously, Savannah would not put her face under the water during swimming lessons. Two weeks of lessons and she cried everyday! I signed her up to repeat the same class because they would not promote her. At the pool with her daddy and I, Savannah started going under and just wouldn’t stop! She had so much fun and can’t wait to show her swimming teacher!

How long did it take your little one to learn to swim?
