Real Kids Shades-Sunglass For Children Review and Giveaway @RealKidsShades

After moving to sunny Florida about a year ago, the first thing my husband and I did was purchase polarized sunglasses for ourselves.  The sun here is especially bright and therefore, polarization is a must.  But what about the kids? I gave up when they’d quickly break the glasses I purchased from the clothing store. Would these children’s glasses truly protect their eyes or would they only somewhat shade sun? Then I was contacted by Real Shades and I was excited to review their glasses.

Real Shades were kind enough to send me three pairs of sunglasses to for all three of my children.  The first pair and the pair I was most excited about were the Explorer Baby – P2 Polarized Lens.  These were perfect for my 8 month old.  Sunglasses for baby can be tricky, however, Real Shades thought of everything when constructing the Explorer Baby.

The Explorer Baby P2 Polarized Lens is very flexible and soft to conform to baby gentle head.  It has a removable strap to keep the glasses from falling off.  The fact that they’re removable means they can grow with baby.  Best of all, they’re polarized!  Baby’s eyes are protected 100% from UV rays and they’re not blinded by the sunlight.  Also, these lenses are unbreakable!

The Bolt Kid P2 Polarized Lens was a favorite amongst my 5 year old while my 7 year old enjoyed the Storm Youth.  Just like the Explorer Baby, these lenses are flexible and unbreakable.  Because kids are active they have a grip on the earpiece which makes it difficult for the glasses to fall off.

The thoughtfulness and ingenuity behind Real Shades makes for a perfect lens for rugged and active kids.

All Real Shades come in a variety of styles and colors.  They also come in an easy for kids to open pouch with key chain to keep the lenses safe.

Great news for grown ups! Real shades just announced their adult line.  If you order now, shipping is free for orders over $25.  You can order your Real Shades at http://www.realkidshades.com.

Breadcrumbz…Teaching Girls about Self Acceptance Through Fun Characters #Review #Giveaway

I am always trying to teach my daughter about Self confidence and Self acceptance. She will be 8 years old in about  8 weeks…and sometimes it seems like she is a Teenager already. She is very laid back, is not a risk taker at all and she always thinks about the consequences first that could be of the actions she wants to take. Personally, I love that about her, but sometimes her peers don’t understand why she is like that, and she has a hard time understanding why her peers aren’t like her.

I have found a WONDERFUL website called mycrumbyworld.com that teaches Self acceptance through fun characters. My daughter loves spending time on this website and she is learning from it. Their are 4 different characters, each one is unique, just like your child. When you go to the website and click on each character, it will tell you about them and send you to their room where you can find out really cool facts about their pets and things in their room. There are games to play and coloring sheets to print.  My daughter loves to tell me about all the cool facts she learns from these characters!

Penelope loves school and learning. She wants to be a Professor or Inventor one day!

rachel-large

Rachel loves sports. The most important thing is to get into the game, and find a sport you love.

 samantha-large

Samantha would love to work in fashion design one day. Hang out with her to learn all of the latest fashion trendz.

Whitney (my daughter’s favorite) loves things that are all natural. She likes collecting leaves and loves flowers.

After your child is done learning fun facts and exploring the character rooms, have them head over to Trail Tails. They are blog type pages for each character. They are updated frequently and have little stories about what is going on with the characters. I love reading them with my daughter because she is understanding friends help each other in tough times, and always do your best.

Mycrumbyworld.com also has really cool products for kids! I was sent a package to review what the have to offer. It included an Activity book, T-shirt,  a Pop Inz charm bracelet and character charms. Also a really cute little burlap bag filled with “trail mix” which is included as a gift in each purchase.

Your child can pick what character they want on their T-shirt. My daughter likes Samantha the best, so she was thrilled with the shirt. The shirts are $19.99 each, and are available in sizes 6X-12.

She is loving the charm bracelet and all of the cool character charms. They are easy to pop in and out, and she has been mixing and matching! The bracelet retails for $2.99 and each set of charms is $4.99.

My daughter loves the activity book! It is filled with coloring pages and activities with each character. It has been keeping her busy the last few days. The activity book retails for $5.99.

About Shannon Addison

Shannon Addison is a “work-at-home” mom, military spouse, and mother of two amazing girls. Her mother (who was a teacher for 25 years) inspired her to create a product line that would positively impact the lives of children.

Her mom believed that everyone is given a voice to use for whatever purpose each person intends to pursue. The challenge, she said, was finding a way to use your voice for good. For Shannon, this is her voice.

 Shannon’s Philosophy

Raising girls has provided a lot of insight about what lessons are important during the most critical growth years. Today there are a lot of products on the market that promote self-esteem, but not many that really target self-acceptance.

Throughout this journey with each of the Breadcrumbz, girls are not only shown how to acknowledge who they are with their own shortcomings or flaws, but are guided through a process that suggests how to embrace them and to celebrate the difference they make in their lives.

“I believe that true beauty exists in those things that differentiate us from everyone else. Through the process of developing self-acceptance, we gain empowerment…using the strengths that make each of us unique.”

Which character do you think your child would like the best?

I was asked to review a children’s hardcover book called Monsters in Manhattan. This book is written by Daniel Jude Miller.

About the book:

Mike is a regular kid from Queens, NY. He’s super-psyched for the start of his Christmas vacation and has all sorts of awesome plans for his week off from school.Snowball fights, sledding, snowmen and lotsa fun! Unfortunately, it all goes south when he finds out that his horrible cousin Mary Lou from Kalamazoo is coming to visit New York City for the holidays. She’s the worst. She’s rude, obnoxious, disgusting and totally gonna ruin all of Mike’s plans. Mike needs to find a way to get rid of her. And fast! If he can scare her away by showing her all the creatures, goblins and ghouls that lurk at Manhattan landmarks, then maybe, just maybe, he can save his Christmas vacation!

This book is hardcover (also available in Kindle edition) and has 35 pages. The Illustrations on each page are colorful and highly detailed. My kids loved pointing out the funny things in each Illustration. I love how this is not a quick to read and finish book. I spent 3 bedtimes reading this to my children. I love how each page has many paragraphs, and tells of a new adventure in NYC. My children were always excited to get to the next page and find out what happens to Mike and Mary Lou.

About the Author Daniel Jude Miller:

Much like the main character from Monsters in Manhattan, I started out as just a regular kid from Queens, NY. A kid who filled countless notebooks with ideas and creations and then always seemed to get a box of fresh drawing pads from Santa at Christmas. After graduating from The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan I embarked upon a career in Editorial Illustration only to find it less fulfilling than I had anticipated. Something was missing. Sure, I loved doing the drawings, but I needed more. And that’s where I found writing. Creating odd and interesting characters has always been my passion and as an author I have the opportunity to bring them to life as well as tell their stories. Thanks for visiting my site and I hope you enjoy my books!

This book is good for ages 5 and up.
