Cool Green Products Review and a Giveaway

I did some research over the summer and found some really interesting “green” products. I found some really odd ones too, but I’ll save those for another day.
I did get to review all of theses products and there will be a giveaway of one of them too!

The HydroRight Dual Flusher

Have you seen the new toilets that have two flushers? I stayed at a hotel that had one. It was cool. There’s a flusher for one type of deposit and a flusher for the other type of deposit. My neighbors recently replaced their toilets with these and I thought, “I want one too”. But I can’t just replace my toilets.

For about the past year we’ve been going by the slogan “if it’s yellow, let it mellow….” you know what I mean. You do, don’t you. Anyway it works for us. We don’t do it if we have company, but when it’s just the four of us. I also thought about putting a brick in the tank or a large bottle to help save water. Well I have the best thing to share…

The HydroRight Dual Flush can do the same thing. You place the HydroRight into your tank. Takes under 10 minutes to install no tools are needed. It took awhile to get my husband to just do it, but he said it was very easy.
Did you know that without dual flushes, 80% of the flushes, waste water. You can buy them on their website or at home improvement stores. They even have a water calculator to see if you’re wasting water.

Recycled pens and pencils form Paper Mate.

I really like this one. We go through many pens where I work and when the ink runs out, there goes the pen and all that plastic. These new pens and pencils are made from recycle materials and when there done, you can recycle them again. They are biodegradable too!

Paper Mate Pencils: These are made from corn, instead of petroleum-based plastics, so when the product comes in contact with soil, it will naturally decompose and biodegrade. And of course the packaging is also made out of 100 percent recyclable materials and is plastic-free.

The Paper Mate Recycled Pens are made from anywhere from 67 percent to 80 percent recycled materials. They come in different colors too. I tried them out and they’re no different than any other pens, except I like them better because they’re recycled and are recyclable!

And to top it off, Paper Mate has partnered with TerraCycle. My favorite company!!So all of their old pens can be “upcycled” into new products. You can learn more about the program here: http://www.terracycle.net/brigades/40-Writing-Instruments-Brigade.

Hydros Water Bottles

Want a water bottle that you can fill up anywhere with tap water? Try the Hydros Water Bottle, I did and love it! What is it? It’s is a filtered reusable water bottle with a built-in filter.

It makes me sad every time I see people buying cases of bottled water. I’m sorry, it does. It’s really easy to use refillable bottles, once you just do it! And the Hydros Water Bottle is perfect for those who only like filtered water. You;ll always have a filter, it’s in the bottle.

These are made in the USA and they are PBA FREE. The other day while out and about, Target had some great water bottles for .99. I was going to get a few for Christmas, but there was no PBA free notification on the bottle. The more I thought about, the more I did not want to buy them, so I put them back. I’d rather but BPA free!

You can order them online at https://hydrosbottle.com/.

I love mine! I use it everyday. My only complaint is when my husband tightens it, I can never get the lid off to drink the water. I always have to ask the security guard at work. But other than that, it’s awesome!

So would you like to win one of these cool products? One Mommy Has to Work reader will be able to win a HydroRight Dual Flusher!

Strawsome Review and Giveaway

Looking for a great eco-friendly gift for the holidays? I always have that one person who everything and I have no idea what to get them.

Strawsome Straws are the answer! Strawsome straws are made from glass. So they are reusable and very eco-friendly. Think of all those straws in the landfill.

These straws are made from the same glass that Pyrex is made from. So that means they’re very sturdy. They are non-toxic, no need to worry about hot liquids. Strawsome Straws are also dishwasher safe. I haven’t washed mine this way, though. I clean them with a pipe cleaner, although there are straw cleaners to be bought. These are made in the USA, always a plus for me, and they come with a 100% guarantee.

I love using mine! I will admit, I haven’t let the kids use them. I know I should, but it’s like it’s a special treat just for me.

The straws come extra long, short and decorative. Some are made a little larger for smoothies. You can even personalize them. I wanted to get my dad a set, but I’m not sure he’ll actually use them. I love that they even have straws just for kids. Oh and check out the individual carrying cases. What a great idea!

Strawsome Straws would like to give one Mommy Has to Work reader a 8″decorative smoothie straw.

Ecostore Review

This is my second review for Ecostore and I love everything I’ve tried! Ecostore has everything from baby care, bath and body care, products for the home and even for your pets! Their motto is no nasty chemicals.

Ecostore is doing good by nature. They love making a difference in people’s lives. Their guiding principle of every formulation is and will always be that the end product must not only be good for the user, but good for the planet.

Plus Ecostore is gentle on the budget. It can be expensive to buy organic and natural products. The products are super-concentrating, so a little bit goes a long way. I was able to try the liquid dish wash and liquid laundry soaps. I’ve just about used of it. The dish wash soap works great and smells great too. The laundry soap is good too. I’ve had no problems with either. I really love using their products. I’m still using the products I reviewed last time. I keep a bottle of the Citrus Spray Cleaner at work to use on my desk.

Ecostore can be found on Twitter and Facebook. Go and check them out. And they offer free shipping on orders over $25.

I was sent products in order to facilitate this review. The opinions are my own.

Simply Green Review and Giveaway

I love finding eco-friendly products to try out and share with you! I’ve officially quit using non earth friendly cleaning products in my home and it feels so good! I’d like to introduce another wonderful line of products. – Simple Green. They’re certainly not new. The company is over 30 years old and was green before it was cool to be so. Simply Green has their original line and the Naturals line.

Simple Green – green on the inside, green on the outside.

Simple Green Naturals are 100% naturally derived, with ingredients originating from nature: chicory, coconut, corn, palm, naturally occurring minerals, salt and sugar, and water. Nothing else.

Naturals are safer, effective products that offer:
• 100% natural ingredient sources • Non-toxic formulations
• Biodegradable formulations • No animal testing
• Full ingredient disclosure
• International scientifically-accepted ingredient names
• Naturals scents are IFRA compliant and made of 100% natural essential oils & plant extracts.
• 100% recyclable PETE plastic bottles with 25%+ post-consumer content, printed with soy inks

One thing I love about their products, it states on the back of the bottle – if swallowed drink lots of fluids – not call poison control or go directly to the ER. I feel safer knowing I’m using these. I received one of everything shown above, plus some of their BBQ and Stainless Steel cleaners from the original Simply Green line.

I’ve used the Carpet Cleaner – very nice. My cat is elderly and pukes daily. This cleans up the messes wonderful!

The Bathroom cleaner, glass cleaner and the multipurpose cleaners work wonderful. I’ve been using them for a couple months now.

The Dilutable Concentrated Cleaner I was just able to use in my new Rubbermaid Resolve cleaner! I was very excited about that (look for that review to be coming up soon).

Simple Green can be purchased online at their store or at your local home improvement stores, such as Lowes and Ace to name a few.

Simple Green would like to give one Mommy Has to Work reader a set of cleaners just like I received.

Eco Touch Waterless Car Wash Review and Giveaway

I’m not a person who obsesses over washing her car. I used to wash it more when it was new. But I’d rather wash it myself than take it to a car wash. I live in South Florida and occasionally we have water restrictions and we are not allowed to wash our cars. So, when I saw on Planet Green that there were waterless car washes out there and I did a little research and found one I’d to share with you all.

Eco Touch was founded by James Dudra and Anne Ruozzi, two environmental entrepreneurs from Portsmouth, NH. While studying in college, in 2003, James Dudra learned that cars in Australia were being cleaned without using water. The company has been featured in media outlets such as National Geographic, Treehugger.com, The New York Times and Body + Soul. Plus their products are distributed in more than 20 countries and online at ecotouch.net and other well known web sites.

Eco Touch wants to educate users about responsible, sustainable car cleaning and washing. I mean why waste water if you don’t have to! They are leading the eco-friendly car care industry and use 100% recyclable bottles and sprayers.

I was able to review the Eco Touch’s exclusive car care kit. It includes everything you need to clean and maintain your car’s interior and exterior surfaces without the use of harsh chemicals. plus, all the products are made in the USA.

What I received:
• Waterless Car Wash (24 oz)
• Dashboard Protect (24 oz)
• Metal Polish (24 oz)
• Carpet + Upholstery (24 oz)
• Window Clear (24 oz)
• All Purpose (24 oz)
• Microfiber Towel Pack

All this sells for $49.99.

At first when I opened the package and looked at the bottle for All Purpose cleaner I thought, there’s no way this one bottle will clean my car. I didn’t grasp the idea. However, once I read the bottle and actually tried it on my car, I realized that the one bottle will last through several car washes. I did my whole car and barely used any. The bottle states 4-6 washes per bottle.

I was very happy with my experience. I know my kids won’t think it’s as fun as using the hose, but think of all the water we’re saving, plus the soap, chemicals and the grime that was on your car, goes into our grass. But not with Eco Touch.

Eco Touch would like to give one Mommy Has to Work reader a kit just like I received.
