I will admit it…I am guilty. I am that person that annoys you as she fails to properly control her stroller as she texts and walks. That’s me and I am sorry. That is why I jumped at the opportunity to try a stroller mount for my IPhone. I figured I would try the novel idea of keeping both hands on my stroller and set up my new gadget.
I ordered the Stroller Kit iPhone 5/5S. The mount case is made by a company called Tigra Sport and right out of the box I felt a little skeptical. I am a mother of 2 very young boys and have always used the phone cases that have advertisements like “try your best to break me.” This case definitely did not scream “hand me to your toddler,” but I still stripped off my IPhone’s former armor and proceeded to assemble the new case.
I have the give credit to the company, these things are super easy to figure out and the enclosed directions are practically unnecessary. Literally as soon as I snapped the case in place, my mom called. Her call gave me the perfect opportunity to test how the case works when making calls. I turned the phone, which unclipped it from the mount, and it was to my ear in seconds but I discovered that this case is NOT made for calling, if the RainGuard is on. There are no holes in the earpiece that allow sound through so everything just sounds muffled. Its not a deal breaker, but it is of note that this case is not designed for talk, unless you remove the guard…and I really prefer my cases to be at least water resistant.
The next test was listening to music. I don’t think I am the only mother that blasts some serious tunes when I’m strolling; you know the classics…Sesame Street, Disney and Raffi. Well, this mounted case definitely allows for the use of your phone’s speaker. The majestic sounds flowed right out of my conveniently located and mounted phone. How lucky was I? Anyway, that pretty much restored the case’s functionality in my eyes, seeing as music allows me to take a break from my 3 year old’s favorite game of “Why? Mommy, Why?”
After using it for a while, the only other iPhone feature I discovered to be disabled, if you use the RainGuard, was TouchID. Overall, I think this is a great product for people who don’t use their phones as much as I like to when out and about. From my experiences with my two little profession phone breakers, I think I will need to put my old case back on. It looks like this company had previously focused a lot of their products for use during cycling, running or motorsports, and honestly, I think this product would be better suited on my husband’s bicycle than my stroller.
