Music Monday – Starfish Review and Giveaway

Another awesome Music Monday featuring Starfish. I was told they are a rock band for kids, so I thought it sounded like something we might like. So listening in the car. I’m always in the care, right? Anyways Savannah and I had a blast with this CD. The music sounds like Def Leppard, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers and so much more. I personally loved this CD. I love the 90’s music and this brought it all back, but in a fun way that my daughter even liked.

My Name is No is a fun song – kids know all about the word no, don’t they. Bike is cool, talks about a kids anger from his bike being stolen. Time Out is the ultimate favorite for Savannah. “I got a time out and I’m really mad.”

Starfish band members are all lifelong musicians who happen to be dads. They still wanted to rock out but wanted to include their kids too! You can check out their website and listen to excerpts from the songs.

Crest Pro Health Invigorating Multi Protection Clean Rinse

I’ve always been a stickler about going to the dentist. I make sure my son and I go every six months. My daughter just turned three and I need to take her for the first time. I did try about six months ago, but that ended in disaster.

I was very excited to be invited to try out the Crest Pro-Health Invigorating Clean Multi Protection Rinse Test Drive Program! I’ve used mouth wash on occasion, but never really stuck with it. I do the usual brushing twice a day and I try to floss. I use those little floss sticks. But I should use regular floss more often. I ‘ll put that on my to do list.

I’ve been using the Crest Pro-Health Invigorating Clean Multi Protection Clean Rinse for about a week now. It really makes my mouth feel fresh and clean.

Why use mouthwash? The Crest Pro-Health Invigorating Multi Protection Clean Rinse: kills germs, reduces plaque, helps prevent gingivitis, keeps teeth cleaner longer, than brushing alone and freshens breath. I will continue my test drive and let you know the ends results in a few weeks!

I wrote this review while participating in a test drive campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Crest and received a sample to facilitate my candid review. Mom Central Consulting sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Mr Bo Book Review and Giveaway

I adopted a cat 19 years ago, Pixel. I went to our local animal shelter and picked out the cutest little orange furball. This was the second time I adopted a cat there and a few months later I adopted another.

I have never really liked the idea of getting an animal from pet store, unless it’s a fish or hamster. There are so many cats and dogs available for adoption, it only makes sense to me to get one form the local shelter.

There a book available called Mr Bo finds a new Home and a new Name. It’s a great little book for children. It’s told in the cat’s point of view. As soon I recieved it, my daughter said read it, read it. She and I throughlly enjoyed this.

Mr Bo is a cat in an animal shelter waiting and waiting for the right person to come in and adopt him. He sees a perfect man and makes sure to give this man all of his attention. He meows just right and makes sure to really put on a good show. When the man leaves to think about making the right choice, adopting a cat, Mr Bo is disappointed. Then the man comes back to get Mr Bo and take hime to his new home.

We will be adoptng another cat or maybe a dog in the next few months, as I had to put down my little Pixel last weekend. This is a great book for children. It teaches the importance of animal adoption.

This is a true story and a picture of Mr Bo is above.

Here’s what a licensed professional counselor wrote about this heartwarming book, written for children in the early elementary years:

“Parents and teachers will fall in love with Timothy Battle’s main character, Mr. Bo, especially for the critical life skills he models for children — maintaining perseverance, overcoming rejection, bolstering self when dejected, and the transitory nature of defeat.”
The book is widely available, sold at Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, and other stores.

I have a copy to giveaway to one Mommy Has to Work reader. To enter leave a comment telling me why you want to win.
