Little One Books – Sponsor Highlight for Blog Hop Starts Dec. 1-5

Tired of toys and more toys for Christmas? What about books? I love giving books for my children. In fact I just bought 2 for Hunter.
I know finding books age appropriate can be hard sometimes. I found a great website, Little One Books that put each of their books into age appropriate sections. Little One Books specialize in quality books, music, and video, for children birth through age five. The staff has personally reviewed and selected each and every item in their store. They also have a “Why We Choose” section where you’ll find find detailed information on why they prefer a particular product.
I was able to pick a book of my choice. I picked 26 Letters and 99 Cents, by Tana Hoban. It’s actually two books in one! One half has the alphabet with pictures and then you flip the book around and you can count up to 99 cents. I only did up to ten with Savannah, it’s gets too confusing right now. But this is great – the book will grow with her.
The book has bright pictures using the primary colors and has lots of familiar and fun objects. The large letters and numbers also develop early writing skills, since the book encourages your child to run their fingers over the letters and numbers. They will love the largeness of the book and will enjoy interacting with it. I know Savannah loves it already!

Little One Books would like to give one Mommy Has to Work Reader a $25.00 Gift certificate to their online store!

I will be having the giveaway starting December 1-5 in a great Blog Hop.

Check out Little One Books on Facebook and Twitter.

Action Figures – Great Stocking Stuffers – Holiday Gift Guide

How about some stocking stuffers for boys! Boys! Who said girls don’t like them too?

Action figures never go out of style. They are easy to carry around. You can move their arms and legs and some have cool attachments. My son, Hunter loves them! And of course, having had 4 boys throughout the years, I can attest to their love for action figures!

Hasbro has some new action figures out, just in time for the holidays! I was able to review two of them!

First up is the Star Wars -The Clone Wars. Having just had a Star Wars – The Clone Wars House Party, Hunter was thrilled to get a second action figure! This time around he got Cody. All them come with a Battle Game card.

Spider man, Spider man, does whatever a spider can….
Spider Man is our favorite and Savannah stole that one! She loves spider man. I’m sure she’d still pick a doll over spider man, but…
The Spider Man 3 3/4 inch action figure is ready to take on his opponents in any situation. From sea to sky to night missions, he is well-equipped for any and all new adventures!
Check out Hasbro for more ideas!

I received the above products for review from the PR company. This did not affect my opinion. My opinions are my own.

The Puzzle Buddy Review/Giveaway – Holiday Gift Guide

A few months ago, Savannah really got into puzzles. Of course they are only 24 pieces, but she does them over and over again. Do you know how hard it is to do puzzles on the carpet? It’s not easy, let me tell you.

I had seen The Puzzle Buddy and thought we need that! Not just to roll them up, because at this point we wouldn’t use it that way, unless Hunter did a big one. I wanted it to do the puzzles on the floor and not get the carpet threads in between the pieces.

I received The Puzzle Buddy 1500. Did you know they come in three sizes? The 1500, 3000 and 5000. With The Puzzle Buddy you just roll out the felt mat on a flat surface and assemble your puzzle. It does work on carpet, but the flat surface is ideal. I love the idea that you can start out doing the puzzle on the table and when you need to use it, just roll up the puzzle and save it for another day!

Oh and right now you can get a bottle of puzzle glue with every Puzzle Buddy purchase!

Want to win one for yourself? The Puzzle Buddy is offering the 1500 size for one Mommy Has to Work reader!!

To enter visit The Puzzle Buddy and leave a comment telling me why you want to win.

Betty Crocker Instant Potatoes Review/Giveaway – MyBlogSpark

Everyone loves mashed potatoes, right? Well, everyone in our family does. My husband is usually the cook and he always makes his mashed potatoes from scratch. Never makes anything different. So when asked to try out the Betty Crocker instant potatoes, I figured this will truly be a test!

It’s not always convenient to make potatoes from scratch. Betty Crocker’s Boxed Instant mashed Potatoes are easy to prepare and are made with 100% real potatoes. It only takes eight minutes. Each box comes with 2 pouches and there’s more than just one variety. The Homestyle Creamy Butter, Au Gratin flavor and the Roasted Garlic .

So – what did we think? Savannah loved hers – can you tell? My mom, Hunter and I thought they were good. But they did not win over my husband. But he’s hard to win over. He’s the cook.

Anyways, my mother always used to use these when living on her own. It’s much easier to make this than cook them up from scratch. They weren’t bad tasting either, I would eat them again – maybe when my husband’s not there. 🙂

Would you like to try them out for yourselves? Betty Crocker and MyBlogSpark would like to give one Mommy Has to Work reader a prize pack! The pack includes two boxes of Betty Crocker Boxed Instant Mashed Potatoes (one Roasted Garlic and one Homestyle Creamy Butter), a serving bowl, a trivet and a serving spoon. By the way – I LOVE the bowl.

To enter tell me which your family prefers or which flavor you’re looking forward to trying.

The Secret of Moonacre Movie Review/Giveaway 3 Winners!! – Holiday Gift Guide

Having a ten year old boy in the house always ensures that there will be action and adventure type movies to be seen. I received an email a couple months ago saying – Move over Harry Potter and make way for The Secret of Moonacre. Of course I was intrigued enough to ask if I could review this movie.

I watched the movie with my son and we both really enjoyed the movie. I wouldn’t recommend it for the little ones. My 2 year daughter would not have enjoyed it. But if you liked the Narnia Chronicles and Harry Potter movies, you’ll love this one. It’s filled with adventure and action, perfect combination.

After 13-year-old Maria Merryweather’s father dies, she is left orphaned and homeless, and is forced to leave her luxurious London home to go and live at the mysterious Moonacre Manor with Sir Benjamin , an eccentric uncle she didn’t know she had. Soon Maria finds herself in a crumbling moonlit world torn apart by a hatred borne of an ancient feud with the dark and sinister De Noir family. Maria discovers that she is the last Moon Princess and, guided by an unlikely mix of allies, she must unearth the secrets of her past before the 5000th moon rises and Moonacre disappears into the sea forever.

Sounds wonderful doesn’t it!

Secret of Moonacre is based on Elizabeth Goudge’s Carnegie Medal-winning novel “The Little White Horse” (one of the inspirations for Harry Potter and The Narnia Chronicles). The movie cast includs: Dakota Blue Richards(The Golden Compass), Juliet Stevenson (Triage, Bend It Like Beckham), Tim Curry( The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Charlie’s Angels), Natascha McElhone (“Californication,” The Truman Show) and Ioan Gruffudd (Fantastic Four, King Arthur).

I would really recommend this movie. It’s a great family movie that you and the kids will enjoy! (just maybe not the little ones) Want a copy of your own? Want to buy it? Check out Amazon.

There are 3 copies to giveaway!!!

To enter – leave a comment telling my who you would give this to if you win and which format you’d like – DVD or Blue Ray.
