Googly Bands for Halloween

Are you looking for a CHEAP and HEALTHY alternative to Halloween candy this year? Well, look no further. Halloween Googly Bands can be that alternative to Halloween candy this year for you, your kids, friends, and family!

Halloween Googly Bands are available in the normal Googly Band packs (12 in a pack, for ~$1). They are also available in treat packs, much like the candy bags you buy to pass out to trick-or-treaters. Googly Band Halloween Trick Bags contain 18 smaller packets, each with 3 Halloween Googly Bands.

I always add some bouncy balls or spider rings to my candy bowl. This year I will be adding Googly Bands!

Also check out Googly Bands new Charm Necklaces and Rings. These were not as big of a hit in my house, but they are pretty cool.

I received samples of products from Googly Bands in order to facilitate this review. This did not affect my opinion.

Costume Squad Review and Giveaway

Do you like funny t-shirts or know someone who does? My stepson used to always have some funny shirt on. Some were not so funny at least not to mom.

There are some great shirts out there and I’ve gotten many over the years. I just found another great place to find them. Not only do they have funny t-shirts, but costumes as well. You can find some cool Halloween costumes and cute women’s costumes.
Oh and check out the cute dog costumes!

I was able to pick a shirt to review and I picked one for my stepson. They both live too faraway. But I will be mailing it up to him. Anyway – Since he can’t wear it and review for me. I tried it on and felt how comfy it was. The shirt comes pre-shunk, so no worry about shrinkage. The shirt is 100% Cotton and nice and thick. No flimsy t-shirt here.
The one I picked is below. It says, “Beavers make sh*t out of wood”. When I was reading the shirts to my husband, that one got a laugh out of him, so that’s the one I picked. What can I say.
Guess what? Costume Squad would like to give one Mommy Has to Work reader a t-shirt valued at $16.99 or less.
To enter just visit www.costumesquad.com and tell me which shirt you would choose if you won!

Book Review: Call Me Kate

I love to read and was excited to join a book review club. When I received the book “Call Me Kate: Meeting the Molly Maguires” I was a little apprehensive. It is a young adult historical fiction book. I wasn’t sure if it was something I would like. However, once I started reading it, I was hooked!
Mary Garrity Slaby or Molly Roe, her pen name, really captivated the reader with “Call Me Kate.” Or at least she did me!
The book is about a 14 year old girl named Katie McCafferty who grows up in a miner town in Pennsylvania. There is a mining accident and her father is no longer able to work. She, being the oldest, must go to work to help support her family. She gets a job doing housekeeping in her town, then gets a better job farther away. The era is set around the Cival War and how the minors are being forced to go to war. One of Katie’s friends gets caught up in the fight against the war.
Katie disguises herself as a boy to join a secret Irish Organization that wants to stop the draft. By doing this , Katie risks her job, family and her own life to rescue her friend.
I really enjoyed the book and about halfway through, couldn’t put it down. It’s one of those books you can’t wait to read more. I heard there are more books to come and am very excited! I would definitely recommend it for all ages.

You can buy it on Amazon.

You can check out Molly Roe on Facebook too!

The book was given to me to facilitate a review. The opinions are my very own.

KT Tunstall Album Review

Remember the hit “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree”? I love that song! It has a great beat and really makes you move.

KT just released a new album, Tiger Suit with the first single “Fade Like a Shadow.” which is already a Top 20 hit on the radio.

* KT will be on tour this Fall (10/31-12/1)

Tiger Suit heralds the beginning of a new musical adventure for KT. Organic instrumentation is blended with dance-friendly textures, the results of which she has dubbed “Nature Techno” to encapsulate the album’s collision of raw, upfront rootsiness and sleek electronic textures.

I was able to review the new album. I was listening to it tonight while making dinner. I was dancing around and really loving the music. It has a little grunge to it. Reminded me of the early nineties. My husband liked it, not as much as I did. A little girly maybe. I’m not sure. One song title is Still a Weirdo. How fun is that?

Check it out and enjoy!

This is a review through One2One Network, opinions are my own. I did receive this album to facilitate my review. I will be entered to win a gift card as well by participating.

Wholesale Costume Club Review

It’s that time of year again! I love Halloween! I just started decorating this weekend. I need to finish up today.

I love to dress up too. I even dress up for work. I’m either a cat or a witch. It’s very easy. Black clothes and a few accessories. The patients like it too. It’s fun.

The kids really make Halloween, though. I love watching them get all dressed up and having fun playing make believe. But what to dress them in. It seems no one goes as a clown, or hobo anymore. My mom always made our costumes or we got those really cheap flimsy ones form the drug store that came in a box. Do you remember those?

Costumes have come a long way since then. And of course some of them are so expensive!

So where do you go for Halloween costumes? I was able to review a costume for Savannah from Wholesale Costume Club.

They have tons, and I mean tons of costumes! I looked through so many pages! There are costume for adults, kids and even toddler Halloween costumes. Sometimes it’s hard to find the smaller ones. I had to hem some of Hunter’s in the past.

Look at this adorable Sleeping Beauty Toddler Costume. This is what I picked for Savannah. Isn’t it cute! I wasn’t able to get a picture of her in it though. She’s not cooperating with me. It’s the prefect size. And it’s not cheap and flimsy. This costs $21.48, but if you’re a member it’s only $18.96. memberships only $5.00 a year. So if you have several costumes to buy, it worth it.

I was given free product to facilitate a review. The opinions are my own.
