FILMRISE CELEBRATES EARTH DAY
BY RELEASING STUNNING NATURE DOCUMENTARY
“LEARNING TO SEE: THE WORLD OF INSECTS” ON
April 17, 2018
Available on Amazon Video, Google Play, iTunes, Vudu

[arve url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeeDZ8BqjSc&feature=youtu.be” /]

“The images in the film are spectacular. Robert is soft-spoken but the world he captures is vibrant and eye-exploding. LEARNING TO SEE gives a full portrait of this artist who gave up everything and rediscovered himself, really on his own.”
                                                                                                — AMFM MAGAZINE
This April, FilmRise will release LEARNING TO SEE: THE WORLD OF INSECTS, a vibrant journey of discovery for both father and son as Jacob (director of the film) documents the exquisite photographic work of his father, Robert Oelman. Struggling with a mid-life crisis, Robert made the decision to leave his successful career as a psychotherapist and moved to South America where he began pursuing a career in nature photography. The film chronicles Robert’s life in the rainforests of Colombia by documenting his relationships to insects by capturing vibrant and fascinating photographs of them.  We see and hear Oelman’s photography assistant Christian as well as key scientists and wildlife conservationists as we’re exposed to his brilliant and mysterious images that show how special and fragile our world is. Robert has helped scientists identify over a dozen new insect species and has been the first to photograph hundreds more.
LEARNING TO SEE: THE WORLD OF INSECTS will be available for sale and rental on Amazon Video, iTunes, Google Play and Vudu April 17, 2018, timed for release in time for  Earth Day celebrations.
Through Roberts words and through his photographic process we learn that we are all connected, even to the tiniest of life forms which we often overlook, but mustn’t if we’re to continue to survive. We learn that even life forms which are at the bottom on the mammalian food chain are critical to all animal species, including mankind. After more than twenty years of traveling, searching and photographing these tiny insects, his quest culminiates with a New York City gallery show of his photographs.
Co-produced by Academy Award nominee and Emmy winner Jerry Aronson (Chasing Ice, The Life and Times of Allen Ginsberg, The Divided Trail) and Robert’s son Jake Oelman (Dear Sidewalk, The Electric Daisy Carnival Experience), LEARNING TO SEE: THE WORLD OF INSECTS was an Official Selection at 2016’s SXSW and 2016 DC Environmental Film Festival. The film was a Grand Jury Nominee at the Nashville Film Festival and a Social Impact Award Nominee at the 2016 Greenwich International Film Festival. The film also won several awards including the Audience Award -Documentary Feature at the 2016 Mammoth Lakes Film Festival and the Cause Cinema Spotlight Award at the 2016 South Bay Film & Music Festival.
“The lurking message is of the fragility of a big, beautiful planet that has still not been fully explored.” – The Austin Chronicle

Cinderella Disney Princess Subscription Box Review from Pley.com #pleyandlearn

Pley just sent me their new Disney Princess Subscription Pleybox! This month’s princess is Cinderella! The box transforms into the enchanting Cinderella’s Castle. As always, you will find a lot of goodies for your little princess to treasure and enjoy. A very cute T-Shirt to add to her collection of Disney Princess shirts. There’s a money bank that will help your little one learn the value of saving. You can also find a pillowcase that your princess can take with her as she dreams big! A light up yo-yo and activity book are also included in the box and will provide hours of fun! Finally, a hobo bag to carry all these goodies around. The contents of this box would easily retail for over $45, but they have it available for only $22.99! Each box contains 4-6 items that your little princess is sure to love. The box also turns into a castle so there is no waste.

Here is what was included in this month’s box:

1. Cinderella T-Shirt (MSRP: $15.00)
2. Cinderella Hobo Bag (MSRP: $15.00)
3. Money Bank (MSRP: $5.00)
4. Light Up Yo-Yo (MSRP: $3.00)
5. Cinderella Pillowcase (MSRP: $12.00)
6. Activity Book + Cinderella’s Castle crafting activity (MSRP: $10.00)

As you can see, it came with many cool Cinderella themed items for my daughter to enjoy. Now lets talk about each item.

Cinderella T-Shirt: Some of the boxes contain apparel. When you sign up for the box you can let them know what size your child is. I am so happy that Pley.com offers bigger sizes. My daughter is a size 10 so they sent a Disney brand size 10/12 which fits her perfectly.

Cinderella Hobo Bag: Little girls love purses! This hobo bag is perfect for your little princess to carry all of her most important items with her.

Money Bank: An adorable money bank that has the princesses pictured all around the bank. Perfect bank for my daughter to save her spare change.

Light Up Yo-Yo: A very cool Yo-Yo that features Cinderella and Belle. My daughter loves how it lights up.

Cinderella Pillowcase: A perfect pillowcase for your little princess to lay her head at night. This pillowcase looks great paired up with Disney Princess bedding.

Activity book and Cinderella Castle Box: Each box you receive comes with an activity book filled with fun stories and activities based around the themed princess. It also comes with instructions on how to make your crafting activity! This month’s craft was Cinderella Castle!

This box would make a great birthday gift, anytime gift, or the holidays will be quickly approaching!

Tips for Meeting the Challenges of Being a Working Mom

Whether you are a single mom working to support a family or a married mom with a job, sometimes the challenges of being a working mom can set you on the brink of despair. Not only do you need to keep up with the duties at work, but you need to make sure that your family is well cared for. This usually means you are on the go every hour of the day with little time to rest and little-to-no time for yourself. If you are faced with more challenges than you fear you can handle, the following advice might prove handy one day.

Set a Schedule and Stick to It!

You have probably heard it said a thousand times that kids need structure. Well, mom, this may come as a shock to you, but you need structure too! There is no way to eliminate stress if you are always running around like a chicken with your head cut off. If supper is set for 6 PM, don’t let up. Make sure everyone is around the table at dinner time so that you can plan your evening ahead.

You now know how much time you have to clear up the dinner mess, get the kids in the bath, and lay out everything needed for your morning routine. It may sound a bit military, but it pays off in the end. A few minutes off-schedule may not upset the balance, but do your best not to vary too much or too often. Both you and your kids will find life so much easier to deal with when you know what to expect.

Lighten Your Load

Have you ever felt boxed into a corner where there is nothing left to do but cry? It could be the bills have gotten out of control, one of the kids is down with the flu and you can’t miss work, the washing machine finally goes on the blink and every which way you turn there is a problem. This is the time you step back and take a deep breath.

You know that laughter is the best medicine for what ails you, so give yourself a healthy dose. Visit sites like Funny Quotes where you will soon forget what ails you. Believe it or not, there is healing power in laughter and sometimes, that’s just what you need. It’s hard to be frustrated and stressed when you put your problems on the back burner long enough to put a smile on your face.

When All Else Fails…

Finally, when all else fails, remember, you are not alone. There are parenting groups you can join, if for nothing else than letting off steam. Whether you choose an online forum or a support group in your local community, sometimes it just helps to get it off your chest.

There are countless other moms out there who hold down a full-time job and share the very same frustrations you do. Some may have even found innovative solutions to the problems you are now facing. Even single moms don’t need to walk through the challenges of being a working mom alone. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and advice. It’s out there, so go and get it!
