Happy National Pet Day!! I have one furry baby, her name is Scarlet. We adopted her from a local pet shelter in 2014 and just absolutely love her! She is unlike most cats though, we really think she is a dog trapped in a cats body! Her favorite activities are: Sitting in the sink and licking the faucet, drinking out of the toilet, chattering away at lizards and frogs, Jumping in the tub when it is filled with water (see, very odd!!) and sitting by the front door waiting for my husband to come home. She has such a fun and sweet personality, life would be so boring without her!
Per Pet Day USA, here are some ways to celebrate National Pet Day!
1. Adopt a pet from your local shelter or pure breed rescue organization.
2. Volunteer at your local shelter and offer to care for the animals.
3. Donate blankets, food and toys to a favorite animal welfare organization.
4. Organize a peaceful demonstration in front of your community pet store that sells pets from puppy or kitten mills.
5. Have a National Pet Day party and celebrate all your pets!
6. Spend the day taking photos of your pets and then post them on our Facebook page!
7. Assist an ill, elderly or a financially struggling neighbor or friend by purchasing pet food, hay or needed items for their pets.
8. Purchase a National Pet Day Tee Shirt (or other gift item) here, to express your devotion to all animals.
9. Buy your pet a fun new toy….or two…or five.
10. Hire a professional pet photographer for a fun photo sho

Sickness happens often in my home. I have a 7 year old in 1st grade, and a 4 year old in preschool who loves to put his fingers in his mouth. My 7 year old daughter has not been as sick as my 4 year old boy. Times have been very tough with him every since he was a newborn.
He decided to arrive 3 weeks early, was a very good size baby at 7 lbs 13oz, however his little lungs were not ready yet. In the NICU he stayed and it was touch and go for awhile. He came home on my birthday (best present EVER) a very healthy baby thank the heavens. Every since he was about 6 months old he has developed high fevers. His fevers have been as high as 104.5, and ALWAYS happens in the middle of the night! Cue crazy panic mode for this mom, especially since my husband works the night shift, so I am all alone with my sick baby and his older sibling. He is almost 5 years old now and still gets the occasional 104 fever. It really helps talking to other parents and to feel assured that I am not alone in this!

Country sensation Chris Young and rock group The All-American Rejects, take the stage this weekend at Busch Gardens® Tampa Bay’s second annual Food & Wine Festival.
