Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day starts today, October 10th in theaters every where!

My daughter and I saw the trailer for this and I knew it would be a great family movie. And it is! Savannah and I went last Wednesday to a sneak peek showing. (gotta love those perks) We ended up going to the wrong theater, but we were not late once we arrived. Yeah.

The movie starts off with 11 year old Alexander telling you about his Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Days. And all about his family’s very good days. You gotta feel for poor Alexander and his bad days. Especially the day before his birthday!

But then something happens the very next day and Alexander’s luck has changed, but so has his family’s. Everyone but Alexander is having a bad day. In fact Alexander is having a great day!

My favorite scene in the movie is when Alexander’s dad, played by Steve Carell is kicking around some garbage cans and getting his anger out. It’s there that Alexander tells his family that you have to have the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Days to appreciate he good days.

I loved this movie and can’t wait to see it again. I hope it comes out on DVD by Christmas. It will be under my tree for sure!

Disney’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day”follows the exploits of 11-year-old Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) as he experiences the most terrible and horrible day of his young life—a day that begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by one calamity after another. But when Alexander tells his upbeat family about the misadventures of his disastrous day, he finds little sympathy and begins to wonder if bad things only happen to him. He soon learns that he’s not alone when his mom (Jennifer Garner), dad (Steve Carell), brother (Dylan Minnette) and sister (Kerris Dorsey) all find themselves living through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Anyone who says there is no such thing as a bad day just hasn’t had one. “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” directed by Independent Spirit Award-winner Miguel Arteta (“The Good Girl,” “Cedar Rapids,” “Youth in Revolt”) from a screenplay by Rob Lieber, is a 21 Laps Entertainment/Jim Henson Company production. The film hits theaters nationwide Oct. 10, 2014.

Disney Store Grand Opening in Jacksonville, FL

DISNEY STORE CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING OF NEWLY-DESIGNED LOCATION IN JACKSONVILLE, FL

Woo-Hoo!! I’m so excited to get another Disney store within driving distance! And it’s at my favorite place to shop, the St. Johns Town Center in Jacksonville.

Disney Store will celebrate the grand opening of the newly-designed store at St. Johns Town Center in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, October 11, 2014. St. Johns Town Center is one of several newly-designed Disney Stores to open across North America in 2014, offering interactive and magical experiences for Disney fans of all ages. The first 500 Guests to attend the opening celebration will receive a free gift and an opportunity to meet Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in Phase lll Plaza from noon to 4 p.m.

The Disney Store at St. Johns Town Center will create “Magical Moments for Guests of all Ages” through storytelling neighborhoods featuring a Disney Princess Castle, magical trees, and the Disney Store Theatre featuring the latest Disney entertainment, as well as a custom skyline with iconic Disney storytelling scenes and local landmarks.

The Grand Opening is Saturday, October 11, 2014. Starting at 10 a.m. the Disney Store Opening Ceremony will take place and one lucky child will be invited to “Unlock Imagination.” Plus the first 500 guests will receive a free gift. Then between noon and 4 p.m. there will be a meet and greet with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in Phase lll Plaza. Guests are encouraged to bring their cameras.

Minnie Mouse Pumpkin Push-Ins

I may be way behind the Mommy curve, but I had never seen these before. My husband came home with this set of Minnie Mouse Pumpkin Push-Ins from Target the other night and my daughter went nuts! How easy was that? No carving, no mess, no sharp tools…just an adorable pumpkin. As you can see in the pictures, she fell in love immediately.

After the photo shoot, we started to take it outside on the front porch. Big mistake! My daughter was NOT having that! She wanted it right back on the island where she could hug it and kiss it. Her new pumpkin friend has not left that spot since.

When asked what she wanted to be for Halloween, she said, “A pumpkin!” This may change. I will ask her a few more times and see if I get the same answer twice, and then we’ll be in business!

The laziness of Summer is over and it’s back to healthy routines for the family. Okay we weren’t that lazy about our routines but it’s much easier to get in the grove when there is a structured day ahead of us.

I just took my children to the dentist a few weeks ago and my daughter had a clean bill of healthy teeth but my son had a small cavity and lots of gunk on his teeth. I know why. He won’t brush. Well he won’t brush as well as he needs too. He use to brush like a good little boy and floss and rinse and all that jazz. He’s 14 now and for about 2 years now gives us a hard time about brushing, flossing and rinsing. I keep thinking that trip to the dentist that he doesn’t like will set him straight, but I’m having doubts.

We normally do the usual routine of brushing, flossing and rinsing twice a day. My daughter has slacked off the flossing and rinsing and I as the mother need to get her back on track. I usually floss but don’t rinse. And my son well who knows?

I was thrilled to receive a box of goodies from Listerine to help get our family back on track! Time to be MOM the Hero and set this family straight!
