One of My Pet Peeves

This was taken in my neighborhood on my way to and from work in my car. 🙂

Why do people just throw this stuff away?! That one dresser just needs a handle. Why didn’t they call someone to pick it up? It sat outside for days and even got rained on, so now it may be ruined but I just don’t understand people who throw stuff like this away!! UGGHH!!

There’s freecycle too! I know not everyone belongs, but you can even go on Craig’s List and list items for free pick up. Oh well, I just had to vent.

  1. Maybe they were thinking someone would pick it up if they wanted it?

My first thought was Craig's List. Seems like such a waste

I donate my good usuable items to charitable organizations. That is definitely a waste.

I am SO with you on that one! I've been married for 20 years. My husband used to hate going with me to drop things off at thrift stores, but now he knows it's the price to pay being married to me.

In CA and TN they have organization that will come to your home and pick everything up, free of charge. Once, when I was in a "get rid of this" mood. They had enough "junk" to completely decorate an entire room.

There are homeless shelters, abused shelters, mental wards, thrift stores, charitable organizations that would have gladly taken the stuff you showed. Heck, I know artists who would have totally give that stuff new live.

    I just don't get it.

In my neighborhood this done when someone moves out or is evicted. They trash the place so the landlord has a ton of stuff to clean up. I do live in the city.

But that is a shame, someone could have repainted and fixed that up and now it will end up in the landfill…

In my hometown – this is a form of free cycle – it would never have sat there for long – someone would have stopped and picked it up. Seems like such a waste that it got rained on – it really could have gone to a good home.

  8. In every city I've lived in, at least charitable organization will pick up donations. Broken items are trickier to deal with–you would hope that zoning restrictions would make them pay for the pick-up.
