If I was given a vacation or received extra money I know exactly where I’d go with my family. We would go to The Islander in Islamorda, Fl.
We’ve been there before, or at least some of have. My husband and I used to take the older boys there every summer. Hunter was able to go once, although he barley remembers. One of the best times was when we were in Miami and just decided to go! Without any clothes or toiletries, just went.
I would take along my husband and all the kids. We would need to get 2 rooms for the six of us. Some of the rooms come with a kitchenette which is wonderful with small children. When we used to go the resort was much older looking and a little worn. Several years ago they were able to upgrade and remodel it. It looks fabulous now. I think we would like either way, though. The resort has a regular pool and a salt water pool. Just about every room looks off toward the ocean. When you walk out of your room you see beaches and ocean and palm trees. It’s beautiful.
The boys would all go fishing. There is a wonderful pier right there on the resort property. In the past the boys always caught a ton of fish and even some sharks! I would take Savannah on walks and the pool. There are shells to be found. The keys do not have many, but Savannah enjoys finding even the smallest of shells and rocks.
When we’ve gone in the past, it’s so relaxing. There’s no amusement parks, no fast life, just easygoing, slow, relaxing time. I would love to go back!
