Thankfully I was never that teenager that took the risk. But one of my stepsons stole a candy bar one time….

I'm a mother of 2 who likes to get involved in too much! Besides writing here I started a non-profit, I'm on the PTO board, very active in my community and volunteer in the school. 1. My sense of guilt would weigh too heavy on me to ever do that. I have to say that I am floored with how much of a problem there is with employees and dishonesty!

  2. I’m painfully honest so I could never take anything from a store, plus I worked in the retail management field for several years so I know how it impacts business practices.

  3. Wow, I had no idea shoplifting was so common. So sad.

  4. This is so sad to read. That makes the cost of things go up for everyone else!

  5. I never had. My daughter once walked out with a bracelet when she was younger but that was totally unintentional. She put it on to play but forgot to take it off when we were leaving 😛

  6. I remember taking something when I was little, like 7. It was a candybar. My mom found it in my pocket and made me earn the money for it and go back and apologize. It’s a lesson I will never forget. It’s sad that shoplifting is so common.

  7. I did, but it was totally innocent. I was at Walgreens and I was maybe 6 years old and I was playing with a small toy while my mom was shopping. When we left, my mom noticed I still had it in my hand and she went back to return it. My youngest did it recently, but I didn’t realize she had something in her hand until we were long gone. It was a small toy ring. I felt so bad.

  8. I did not, I would have been way to scared to get caught. My brother did though and when my mom found out, she made him go back with the money for the candy bar he took and apologize to the clerk.

  9. Wow! That’s crazy.

  10. I never shoplifted.

  11. I can’t say that I have.

  12. Wow, some very sad statistics. I never did intentionally or otherwise shoplift.

  13. This was definitely eye opening!

  14. I’ve decided today is NOT the day for a confession. My kids I believe would be too scared.

  15. This is very eye opening. And I’m thankful my kids have never done this.

  16. I’ve seen this happen and always point it out to someone. I’d rather be a snitch and save the store money you never know when you might get a reward

  17. Yikes those are crazy stats.

  18. Wow I’m shocked that it’s so prevalent!
