Our cat, Spice, has been wanting to get out of the house for a while now. Every time the door opens she bolts for the door. So while at the store last week I bought a cat harness and leash.
We’ve been taking her at just for a few minutes at a time for her to get used to it. This last time she really got into and was sniffing and exploring all around the yard.
Man, once you give them that taste of outside, they will want to be out there all the time!
Well, that is something I don’t see everyday! 😉 It isn’t odd though since they need to get fresh air, too. If I had known anything about a cat harness existing the time I had cats, I’d have taken them for walks as well. Unfortunately, I’m now allergic to cats.
It looks like he really enjoyed his walk. Cats love the great outdoors just as much as other animals do. I think that’s the reason why they love sitting on window sills as much as they do.

I think more people should do this. Just letting your cat out is dangerous, and never letting them outside isn’t so great either.
Funny I just saw someone walking a cat on a leash for the first time earlier this week. I think it’s a great idea!
We moved off the farm here my cat got to go outside all the time. I was thinking of taking her out for walks too, they love it.
I’ve seen this a few times. I always think it’s so funny seeing people walk their cats.
I’ve never seen this before but it looks like a great way to keep the kitty safe while walking. They need exercise too.
How sweet! I don’t have a cat but when I was growing up I had one as well as a cat leash- though I don’t think that we ever used it once! My cat was a bit skiddish.
I used to have a sweet cat who would always want to go outside, but we lived too close to busy roads. So I put her on a leash and we’d sit out on the deck together in the sun. 🙂 But if I tried to “walk” with her, she’d lay down and not move an inch. lol

I think this is a great idea. When we were house hunting last year we were in one house that when we opened the front door the cat almost bolted right outside! Luckily my husband was able to nab it just before it hit the front walkway and got the door closed, but that kitty sure did want a taste of the great outdoors that morning!
Thinking about it why do we normally walk dogs and not cats? I hope she has a great time.
Nope, but I’d periodically take my rat out for a walk when I had one (as a teenager).
We may need to do this for one of our cats, she always tries to run out the door when we open it.
Since cats have a tendency to bolt, this is a great idea. Actually, it’s downright adorable.

I’ve never seen a cat on a leash but my oldest daughter was just talking today about how she was going to buy a harness for her cat and start taking it on talks. Nothing wrong with letting cats get some good walking time in.
