  4. What I love about the first days of school……
This is going to sound very selfish 🙁 but I love getting back into my routine of shopping without children, being able to wash a floor and not have to go over and redo parts of it, not having to intercede when they argue to excess, etc. I could go on and on. Do not get me wrong, there are many things that also make be a little sad, not being able to spend so much with the boys, no impromtu outings and getting to sleep until someone wants breakfast!!

  11. A sigh of relief is what I feel-plus a little sadness that another year has come-that my kids are growing up.

  14. I know I shouldn't say this, but I count the days til school starts when summer is about halfway through! I like routine, I like productivity, and I like the quiet of the house when everyone's off to school. Favorite thing to do on the first day? Stop at Starbucks after my carpools and grab a Latte!

As selfish as this sounds, my favorite thing about the first day of school is ahving that commuting time (I'm a teacher) to myself. It is quiet, and I can listen to my own songs on the radio. The wrost part is about five minutes into the drive, I miss my kids and wish I was back home with them. 🙂

  30. Actually, I'm very sad about the first day of school. I am going to miss my kids terribly when they get back to school! If I have to like something, I guess it's the opportunity to get involved and do as much as I can to help at the school. 🙂

  41. I think most parents would be lying if they didn't think routine. I bet some kids are glad too. My kid sometimes is so bored if her friends aren't around now that camp is over too. I can only do so much with amusement parks etc.

  42. my favorite thing is hearing that my son is happy and that he hopefully has some friends in his class; oh, and the fact that I can now get the house organized in earnest 😀
