In the United States the average age of cars and light trucks on the roads today has reached a record high of 9.4 years, making it more important than ever for consumers to take proper care of their vehicles. With the new MotorOilMatters.org web site www.MotorOilMatters.org (created by industry-leading brands Pennzoil, Quaker State and Shell Rotella); you can easily locate key information that will help prolong your engine´s life and improve overall efficiency, as well as help answer any questions you may have about motor oil. In addition, the site offers a fun, educational game for you to play called “M.O.M. Knows Best” where you can put your motor mind to the test with an interactive quiz.
Did you know?
According to a study by the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association, nearly 9 out of 10 female motorists are involved in their household’s vehicle maintenance and repair
According to a national survey that polled 522 women, 46 percent incorrectly assumed simply switching from conventional engine oil to synthetic oil enables the number of miles between oil changes to be safely extended*
Using a quality motor oil in the right grade can help maximize fuel economy, and help save money by preventing costly engine damage
Off-brand, no-name or discount oils that do not meet industry standards or the vehicle manufacturer´s requirements could cost consumers in the long run by potentially damaging the vehicle´s engine or possibly voiding the manufacturer´s warrant
Shell Lubricants and MotorOilMatters.org sent me a Jiffy Lube gift certificate for $35.00, through MyBlogSpark, which should cover an oil change. I’m so excited, I haven’t had my oil changed in forever!
They also have a gift certificate to give to one Mommy Has to Work reader.

The "W" in motor oil names means "winter", not "weight"

Switching between synthetic and conventional oil will not cause any harm to engines as long as both individual oils meet the engine manufacturer’s requirements as listed in the owner’s manual.

I found it really interesting that Premium quality motor oil is designed to keep the engine clean and protected over the life of the oil drain interval. Didn't know that!

I learned that oils displaying the Starburst meet performance requirements set by many U.S. and international vehicle and engine manufacturers and the lubricant industry.

I have heard that switching between synthetic and non synthetic oil is not good for a car, but this website disproves that "fact."

I so need an oil change badly! LOL
On the news that matter tab: Shell is reducing the use of poor quality motor oil in the market because of engine wear and sludge.
Don't ask me what that means LOL

I learned this is called severe driving ~ Severe use typically includes stop-and-go driving, frequent high-speed driving and short trips. Heck that's the only way we can drive around here ~ all trips would seem "short" by the miles driven, but with the stop and go thing….it's severe – not only on the car but also on the nerves.
I learned that you can switch between regular and synthetic oil without harming your vehicle.

They have survey results that show almost 9 out of 10 wives are involved in vehicle maintenance. well duh – at my house hubby goes to work and I'm the one that takes whichever car needs it in for servicing. If I don't like the garage, I take the car to a different one.
