I, then explained that said shoes are not usually in our budget, however if I could find a pair on sale that was $20.00 or under, I would get them. He even offered to pay the difference. So most of the summer, he was on the lookout for Nike shoes.
Well, this past weekend, we went into Marshalls to look for a dress for me and he went to check out the shoes. He was so excited! He found these cool basketball shoes that were high tops and he wanted them. I checked them out and told him, these are not Nike shoes. He didn’t care. I asked again to make sure. He assured me , these were the shoes he wanted. I was so proud to have him pick out a pair of shoes he wanted, not what someone else wanted.
Come to find out when we got home, the shoes are Nike. I didn’t know. The Nike logo was very small on the bottom of the box. Yeah!!
I'm glad he found a pair he liked! I think a lot of us went through that at some part of our teen years. I've bought Nike shoes at Marshalls before and they are no different than Nikes at the mall…lol except for price.
Awwwwww, good for him for making a decision on his own and not being a Follower!!!! hows he has some good parenting going on……

Oh I am almost to the stage – I hate that brands will do this to kids. Maybe I still have a couple of years before it happens. Good for him for making a good decision.
Good choice! That is a nice looking shoe.
Good for him for doing his own thing! When I was in school the big thing was Nike shoes and Guess jeans. We never had the money for either of them and kids can be cruel. In the end I feel it's better to be unique than follow the crowd. But, I'm glad that even though he bought the shoes HE wanted that they ended up being Nike in the end!
I love this! I'm worried about things like this when my kids get bigger. Growing up, his dad and I were on completely opposite ends of the social world. He didn't have a ton of friends, and he'd do anything to fit in, where as I half the time wore clothes and shoes I HATED just to stay in my group of friends.
You raise wonderful kids!
Love the shoes! I am following from Making Friends Monday :)!
They look like a nice pair of shoes.
That's great that he worked through peer pressure early.
