Dreamin’ of a Green Christmas

I’ve made a vow to be green this Christmas.
How will I do this?
I will not buy any of those cute boxes to put my presents in. I’m saving boxes from home and work. I used some of these last year. They are great, no one can guess that there is a shirt in there. And they are all different shapes.
I’m buying ‘green’ gifts. If you’re on my list – be for warned. You will either get a homemade gift or something green or eco-friendy. Don’t worry though, it will be cool – I promise.
I’m not buying any wrapping paper. I will use what I have. This one will be hard. I LOVE PAPER! I’m saving brown paper from work and will have the kids color or stamp it. I may even use cartoons.
What are you going to do this year to be ‘green’?

Awesome! You know, I was just thinking about that this morning. I think I'm going to do a lot of handmade gifts – some purchased (because I'm short on time) and some I will make myself. Will re-use gift bags – I always do this, and have TONS of them stashed away. And I'm not sure what else yet!

I am following from the FFF blog hop! Would love for you to stop by and say hello some time 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend!

I reuse gift bags and have used decorated brown paper, reused gift baskets wrapped in cellophane, boxes from oranges and many other things…but in the end I do buy a few gift boxes or paper for the special gifts. I have piles of boxes thanks to the many packages I have received this year…just not many gifts to put in them.

I spend a bare minimum on wrapping and look for people giving paper or gift bags away throughout the year on freecycle and whatnot. I have used comics in the past but it felt pretty trashy so I only did it for the gifts that my own kids got.

I suppose what I do isn't the greenest, but my budget is very very limited so the cost has to come first.

  5. My sisters and I always save the gift bags to re-use. Another thing I do is use an artificial tree. Truthfully, my motivation was more financial than green; but going green often does save you money!
