Choose You – Get Healthy – Giveaway


You know it’s so hard to get active, eat right and just take of yourself. We take of our kids, our parents and spouses, but sometimes we forget ourselves. Thankfully the American cancer Society can help! They have a program called Choose You that helps you stay committed to helping “you”.

What is Choose You?
Choose You is a movement created by the American Cancer Society that encourages women to put their own health first in the fight against cancer. The movement challenges women to make healthier choices, and supports them in their commitment to eat right, get active, quit smoking and get regular health checks.

The Choose You Movement shines a light on a hidden issue: that while one in three American women will get cancer in her lifetime, about 50% of cancer deaths could be prevented if more emphasis were placed on early detection and healthier lifestyles including maintaining a healthy weight through diet and exercise and avoiding tobacco.

By making a Choose You Commitment today, you are making personal health a priority — and helping in the fight against cancer.

I am choosing to eat right. Although the amount of chocolate I ate this week, I’ve kinda slacked. But I pack healthier foods to eat at work. I make eggs and sausage for breakfast (just 1 egg and 1 sausage link), a banana for mid morning snack, Yogurt with granola, nuts and fruit for lunch and a cheese stick for afternoon snack. I like snacks and always use to bring pretzels to snack on, however I haven’t done so in months and really I don’t miss them.

I am choosing to be more active. Last October I started walking during my lunch break and have progressed to running. I am lucky enough to do this at work and then eat at my desk. Now, I only have a half an hour so I’m only getting about 20 minutes of exercise. But I am able to do it 3-4 times a week.

The American Cancer Society’s Choose You program helps women put
their health first and stick to their health commitments by offering social
support and financial incentives that have been proven to create long-term
behavior change. All they have to do is log onto ChooseYou.com and sign up to
make a commitment.


So how does it work? Sign up for free, set your goal and your stakes. Then pick a referee, someone you know that can help motivate you. Finally choose some friends to help you along the way.
