5 Summer Getaways for Kids

Summer is almost here and everyone is thinking “summer vacation”!! I know many families will be doing staycations and others have trips planned or are still trying to figure out what to do. We have our summer vacation all ready planned. I usually try to plan it out ahead of time. We are going to Indiana to visit family. Of course, we may try and squeeze in some long weekends here and there too. If you need help thinking of what to do, here are some ideas.Take the kids to the beach. Who doesn’t love the beach? You can rent a beach house or a nice suite and just relax. We like to go to Naples, FL. It’s beautiful over there. The place we stay at has bikes and fishing poles you can borrow. The beach is right around the corner. The kids love to play in the sand and splash in the water and don’t forget the seashells! This is my favorite place to go. There is never anything we ‘have’ to do except play and relax.

A trip to Disney World is a must at least once in a lifetime. We’ve gone many times, but we only live a few hours away. Disney is just so magical and the kids always have that awe look on their faces. I really love to go to Disney, but there’s always that gotta do this and that, but if you’ve never gone, you have to check it out!

A stay at a cabin would be nice. We’ve never done that, but I was talking to my husband about that yesterday. I would love to rent a cabin near a lake where the kids can fish and maybe take a canoe ride and swim in the lake. The lakes near me might have alligators, so we stay clear of them. I would just love to be around nature and have no time constraints.

Rent a motor home and travel. I have always wanted to this! They have motor homes that you can rent, did you know that? How cool would it be to just be able to travel to different states and see everything in between? A friend of my husband takes a month off during the summer and does just this.

Stay home. Weird right? But I work outside the home and would love to be able to spend time with my kids. There is so much to do in our own county. So much for the children to learn about where they live. There are parks everywhere. We live in Palm Beach County, FL and there are national parks, walking trails, place to ride bikes, really an endless supply of fun in our own backyard. I think it’s great for kids to learn about where they live.

With summer only a few days away, it’s time to start thinking about your family vacation. Do you already have plans? Will you go to Disney or the beach? I’m really hoping we can squeeze in a weekend in Naples this summer. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!
