Dreaming of a New Kitchen Table

We have had this table for 17 years now. It’s held up pretty good considering it’s gone through 5 kids, 4 of them boys. I like the table and really don’t want a new one. But…. I had the chairs reupholstered a few years ago and the corners are sharp! I guess the foam did not extend all the way to wear it should have been and poor Savannah gets her legs hurt often enough to consider a new table.

My brother did the work for me and he’s out of state now and I’m sure it’s worth a professional.

So, I’ve been looking at kitchen tables and seeing what’s out there. I want something that will last another 17-20 years.

I like the distressed dining tables. I love a good thick hearty table that can stand the test of time! I like wood, dark or light, but not white and not a round glass dining table. I would be worried about the glass breaking with the kids!

I do like the corner table here, it would work now, but not sure if it’s right for all time. I do like the benches that come with some of the tables. Very cool.

Not sure if I’ll get a table this year or not. I will have to think about it, but it’s nice to dream, right?

How long has your table lasted?

We have a table with no chairs! All our chairs broke. 🙁 It's a teak table that we got from some friends. We need a real one.. Hopefully sooner vs later!

We stumbled on our table at an outlet and love it. But it was good for 2 people and now we are four, and sometimes more. We want to get a new one, but can't bare to part with it. Visiting from Super Stalker.

Have you thought of recovering them yourself? It is actually not too hard! 🙂 I promise! All you need is a drill and a staple gun! And some cute fabric. You can reuse your foam I bet. Cheaper to repurpose then to buy new at least until you find something you love! 🙂 Erin

We have a weird house layout and can't fit a kitchen table but have a distressed dining table and love it. It's lasted 10 years now…nuts to think about it! Happy shopping!
