Mother’s Day is next week and while I have a wonderful mother, I’d like to tell you about another woman who has helped me.
Merrilee is my cousin on my mother’s side, whom I never really knew until last year. I mean I knew her, but never had gotten to “know” her over the years. We are 8 years apart and she use to live on the opposite coast than me. I finally got to meet up with her in July last year, after she moved to North Florida, and found out we have a lot in common. She’s like a sister to me now.
My mother decided she wanted to move to North Florida about 6 months ago and enlisted Merrilee to help. It’s very hard for me to go off for the weekends to look around with my mom. I have young children at home, plus I work full time. Merrilee was very nice to help my mom out. Merrilee put her up in her home, drove her around and such.
My mother finally found a place and Merrilee offered to help paint and get her settled.
Well…. when the worker’s pulled the carpet to replace with linoleum, they found mold. Lots of it!
Who was there every day for several weeks, supervising, cleaning and making sure things got done? Merrilee was.
She put my mom and her needs in front of her own. This was a tremendous help to me. My office was short staffed for the entire time this was being done and there was just no way I could have gone up to help out. I can’t imaging what we would have done if it hadn’t been for Merrilee.
Thank you!!
