Headboards – I Don’t Need One Anymore

Once upon a time I desired the headboard above. I wanted that one so bad I could taste it. I love anything ocean and sea and my bedroom is blue with an ocean touch. The seagrass headboard would have been perfect in my room. I looked everywhere for headboards. The problem – it was expensive.

It wasn’t all about the looks either. I had a king sized water bed and when the movers placed it, there was a gap, where a headboard would go. My son, a baby, at the time slept with me and I was always afraid he would fall into the gap. Of course he never did, but the pillows I use to place there did.

So I replaced that bed for a couple years to a regular queen bed. I half heartedly looked for headboards for queen size beds. Did you know you can use  headboards for full sized beds for a queen bed? They are similar in size.
Then I switched back to my waterbed. Thankfully we hadn’t sold it yet! My hubby thought I was crazy! Well, he still does. But I really love my water bed!

This time though, when they placed it, it was placed closer to the wall. Still enough room if I really wanted that headboard, but not enough so that the pillows fall through.
So now I have no headboard and you know what? I don’t need one! I bought some of those extra big pillows and love it!

  1. i’m a fan of headboards. i went without one for year and used a canopy with sheers that draped over my bed instead. i loved it. seemed so romantic. my husband wasn’t a fan of the canopy. that was for my single days only apparently. 🙂

  2. I used to want a headboard too but after getting some fluffy pillows and a giant painting and liking that I can lean against the wall with my pillows I don’t really need one either. Plus, whew, talk about expensive for something I really don’t need anyway!

  3. I have one on my bed, but I never put one on the kids’ beds and they didn’t seem to even care!

  4. I love leaning back on mine when I am reading.
