I posted about a month ago that we would be heading to the Indianapolis Zoo, during our trip to Indiana for our family reunion. We went 4 years ago and definitely wanted to return on this trip. You might think a zoo is a zoo, but that’s not true!
Upon entering the parking area we were given enough wristbands for the children in our car. On these wristbands, we wrote my first name and my cell phone number. This way if the children got lost they would have our contact info available. I read about this and thought it was a wonderful idea!
Savannah had a great time using the park map. She made sure we all knew where we were going!
The zoo had some really cool animals and some of the usual animals too! We always enjoy the elephants. I wasn’t keen on this bear, though. There was no glass wall, just a mote.
We brought our lunch and halfway through the visit we sat at tables right outside the entrance and ate sandwiches and chips. I love this idea. It can get pricey eating out with 12 people!
The penguins were neat! I’ve only seen them at Sea World. We even walked over a glass walkway and you could see the penguins swimming underneath!
There was a place where you could Race with the Cheetahs. That was cool. It was only $.50. All the children participated! We went on a train ride, which wasn’t that exciting, but it gave a chance to sit and relax for a bit. We also watched the dolphin show- a nice indoor activity!
It was a super hot day but we all had a great time. Next time I will bring extra clothes and cool off in the splash area! We had a great time and would recommend it to anybody!
We received admission for my immediate family in exchange for the review. Opinions are my own!
I want to go to this zoo. My husband’s grandmother lives in Indiana and I have always wanted to take a trip and go to this zoo.
Looks like a lot of fun.
How cool. I live in Indiana (about an hour south of the zoo) and I’m from South Florida (Wauchula). I grew up a Florida girl and my husband attended seminary in Louisville KY. That’s how we ended up in Indiana. We love it here….just not during this current heatwave. It’s hot—-even inside and I’m a true Floridian! Blek!
Nice to find your blog.
Nice review!
The `Race with Cheetahs` sounds interesting.
Looks like you had a great time! My boys love the zoo!
I am your newest follow from Relax and Surf Sunday!
Racing the cheetahs sounds like a lot of fun
Sounds like you had a great time!
How fun! Nice to see a zoo with other activities rather than just looking at the animals. Love the elephant photo!
What a fun trip to the zoo, and great pictures!
