Hurricane Season Is Over!!

November 30th marked the end of Hurricane Season. When you live in South Florida this is a big day.

Not really, but it’s nice to know the chances are slim that we will get any more hurricanes. I loath the beginning in June when all you hear is Buy emergency foods, like soups, tuna and water. Don’t forget the batteries , flashlights and radios. The news always suggests getting an emergency food storage bin to put in all in and place it in the “room” The room where you will go if a hurricane comes. The only room we have is my closet. I was a bad girl this season. I didn’t go but any emergency food. I just figured we’d wing it if a hurricane came along.

Thankfully, my family only had to really go through one year of hurricanes. Hunter was about 3 or 4 and it was really scary. But we survived and I hope we never have to go through it again. I really feel for all those who went through worse, who lost their houses. It’s terrible.

I want to move somewhere where there are no natural disaster. But where is that? Anyone know of a place that has no hurricanes, earthquakes, tornados, floods, ice/snow storms? Please let me know if you come up with somewhere.

They are already talking about next season!! Ugghh!

What disasters do you encounter?

  1. I was a teen when Hurricane Andrew ripped apart my home with my entire family inside it. It was one of those things that changed your life…

  2. I have read that New Mexico has the lowest incidence of natural disasters in the United States. I’ve never been there, so I can’t speak to what it is like to live there. However, I can highly recommend Oregon…I know they say it rains a lot, but as far as natural disasters–we have few and it is BEAUTIFUL!
