My children see me with a camera in my hands almost everyday. So it’s only natural that they want a camera as well, especially my 5 year old daughter. When I got the chance to review PlaySkool’s new ShowCam I could not pass it up. I’ve gotten my son a child’s camera when he was 5 or 6 and the quality was just terrible, so I was curious to se how much technology has change in 7 years.
The PlaySkool ShowCam is definitely kid friendly. It’s geared toward kids ages 3-7. It’s perfect for their hands and durable enough if it gets dropped. The buttons are easy to push and understand. The child can customize the pictures in over 50 ways. They pic silly and fun stamps to place on the picture and can even bring the pictures to life with music and dance. The pictures then can be upload to a computer or brought to life as a slide show on the wall.
So what did I think? I think it’s great and would recommend putting it on your Holiday shopping list this year. It’s that fun! The pictures are not perfect quality but the fun stamps make up for it. My daughter has a great time capturing us in silly pictures and looking at them. The stamps are helping teach her how to hold the camera because the stamps have to fit into the face. She plays with it several times a week and whenever anyone new comes to the house. Here are a few pictures from her camera….

How funny! It’s like the google hangouts thing that puts it on your head. My daughter would be a fit a giggles playing with this.
My niece is so into looking at pictures after I take them so this could be a great gift for her, so she can create on her own!

Aww, how fun! When I was a tot, I had a “Kid’s camera” – it was a film camera, since this was the ’80s, and it had one of those square flashes that you put on the top before taking a photo. Man, how things have changed, LOL!
This is amazing. I’m always taking photos with my camera and the kids always want to touch it. This now gives them their own camera. Love it!
Love it. Mine are always wanting to borrow my camera for pictures. I always say no. This would be prefect for either of them.

All of my kids found a passion for taking pictures early on and had kid oriented camera when they were younger. I really like the ability to customize photos with this one!
For a young child’s camera those images look pretty good. I bought my son (now 11) one when he was 3 and like you it was terrible. I love those stamps how fun and definitely a wonderful gift idea!
