Adjusting Your Child to Daylight Savings Time – Video/Giveaway

Daylight Savings Time can stress parents out. Many moms wonder how the time change will affect their baby, especially when it comes to little one’s sleeping patterns. “How will my baby adjust to the time change?” and “Will that mean a different wake up time?” are just a few questions mothers may have.

 

I had the opportunity to interview  “The Sleep Lady” Kim West and get some of your questions answered.

I'm a mother of 2 who likes to get involved in too much! Besides writing here I started a non-profit, I'm on the PTO board, very active in my community and volunteer in the school.     I don’t really have any concerns. Luckily DLS time hasn’t affected us in any way.

    Here in AZ we don’t do DLS. It hasn’t seemed to have any effect yet with our 1 year old. So it will be interesting to see.

    Now that my kids are older, daylight savings time is no longer an issue. It was awful when they were little, though.

  8. I’m so glad I don’t have to worry about this. My girls slept good and it didn’t affect us too much but I know a few moms I can share this with

    • The stats are funny on what we do to keep baby asleep. Mine all seemed to like white noise so I’d leave the TV or stereo on. 🙂

    THe only thing I hate is trying to get adjusted to the time change. It takes a few days but then I am over it.

    I’m Concerned How The Time Change Will Effect Our Daily Routines.

  17. I would totally give up chocolate or TV as I can easily live without both. Sleep? Well, that’s one thing I just can’t get enough of and I’m so happy we no longer have a crying baby to wake up to. I think we’ll all have to adjust to the new time though.

    I’m concerned that getting the kids to go to be an hour early is going to be a challenge.

  19. The time change has got me all discombobulated today. It will take about a week for my family to adjust.

  20. I am not a fan of changing time! While my kids seem to be doing fine, I am tired and sluggish.

  22. I’m most concerned about me losing an hour of work time! We’re not morning people so I’m sure I’ll have some grouchy moods come Monday. But this is a great graphic!

  23. I always have a hard time adjusting to the time change. It was even harder when the kids were little!

  24. I really don’ t have any concerns, because I live in AZ. We don’t do daylight savings time. But I do always get confused on time back east and all.

    I think if I set my schedule right it won’t bother me as much.

  27. Sleep is so important. I read 3 books on sleep and combined the advice to get my kids to sleep through the night. I have learned that if you just ignore Daylight Savings time changes and keep things business as usual then their is minimal impact.

    Getting my kids to go to bed when it is still daylight out.

    getting up for school is my worst worry

  34. My youngest slept later this morning. I am sure it was because of the time change.

  35. The crazy thing is that my daughter had to wake me up this morning. Springing forward has my brain all tossed about.

  36. My biggest concern is getting my little ones used to the time change. Also, I get worried about it being dark when they walk to the school bus.

    We just moved so I’m most concerned about our schedule since things are a little hectic already. Our son has school 3 days a week so I’m concerned about getting him up and ready in time.

    I’m concerned that it affects the children mentally and that they have a hard time adjusting to the change and sleep schedule due to it getting darker quicker one part of the year and lighter quicker the other part. Thanks.

  52. I’m pregnant with my first baby and due this summer, so I know I will have to encounter daylight savings time and their routine/schedule will be off due to time change.

    I’m most concerned about how it will change my child’s mood and sleep pattern.

  54. I am most concerned that as the days get longer my children will not want to go to bed at the appropriate time if it is still light outside

  55. it doesn’t bother us at our house but I do worry when on the road the next Monday. Statistically accident rates are higher that day because of sleepy drivers who haven’t yet adjusted.
