Choosing To Have Dental Veneers

Over the years our teeth take a battering, and if not taken care of properly they can look discoloured and not very appealing. One of the easiest and most affordable ways to rectify this problem is to look at the prospect of having dental veneers fitted to your teeth. You can find out a lot more information on veneers and how they work when you visit trusted dental blogs. The process is straightforward, and it can take up to a month to complete in its entirety.

What Is A Veneer?

A Dental Veneer is made from porcelain and covers the front of the tooth and can improve the appearance dramatically. The treatment can be used for many different problems such as;

  • Chipped Or Broken Teeth
  • Teeth With Gaps
  • Discoloured Teeth
  • Worn Down Teeth
  • Misaligned Or Irregular Teeth

If you suffer from any of these conditions, then you may wish to consider having veneers fitted to improve the look of your teeth, which will also give your self-confidence a boost. Any dentist in Sydney or anywhere else will be able to discuss the procedure with you, so ask your local dentist if you have any questions about the treatment or its suitability for your condition.

How Does The Process Work?

The first step in the process is to consult your local dentist and go through the problems with your teeth and discuss potential treatments. Dental Veneers may not be suitable for all people, so you will need to confirm if it is something your dentist recommends. When you have agreed on the treatment, the dentist will take a mould of your mouth using dental putty. The soft putty will cover your teeth and gums and will take a few minutes to harden. The mould is then used to create the porcelain veneers for your teeth, and the process can take up to about four weeks. When the veneers are back from the specialists, your dentist will then start the process of installing them. To do this, they need to grind down about 1/2 millimetre of enamel, so it is advised that you take something for any pain or discomfort that you might experience during this process. Once the enamel is removed the veneers are added to the teeth and stuck in place using dental cement which is activated using a special light to start the chemical process to bond the tooth and veneer together.

Perfect Looking Teeth

Once fitted your teeth will look almost perfect and you will be happy and confident to show off your smile. You will still need to take care of your teeth as normal and brush regularly, as well as eat a healthy and balanced diet, and you go for regular check-ups at the dentist, you can have a smile that is bright and shining for many years to come. Porcelain veneers can give you a new lease of life which will have you happy to show off your teeth and smile for the world to see. Speak to your local dentist today and ask them about dental veneers and whether they are an option for you.
