There are many reasons why you might have to take a break from work in your life every so often. You might have an injury that puts you in a position where you can’t work for a certain amount of weeks, or one that’s most likely going to be relevant to all of you reading this, you will have to take a couple of months off work when you have your baby. It doesn’t matter whether you have your first, or your third, you’re still going to have to take some time off work to bond with your baby, recover from the whole process, and watch them go through some of their most important stages in life. The usual amount of time that people take off work is 6 months, but some extend it to a year or more if their finances will allow. Now, we all know how hard it is to go back to work when you’ve only been on holiday for a week, so think about how hard it’s going to be to return to work after you’ve had 6 months or so off. It’s one of the reasons why we’ve created this article, to try and help all you mom who are considering returning to work, and how you can make it easier for yourself.
Go Back To A Job You’ll Enjoy
This is a really important one we feel. If you’re going into a job that you can’t really even enjoy, then it’s going to be so hard to go back to a job at all. We really think you need to think about roles that are going to keep you engaged, and ones that you will actually enjoy. For example, you could look into advanced online colleges for social work, which would be online, and would put you on a path to a totally different career to what you’re in now. Now that will apply to most of you, some of you might be in a similar career, yet really not enjoying it. If this is so, think about careers that really do interest you, and see if there are any online courses that you could take that would push you towards them. Or, think about something you’re passionate about, and perhaps start thinking about whether you can start your own mini business.
Think About Easing Yourself Into It
This is the really important one in our mind. You can’t just go back to full time work, and expect your life just to slot right back into place again. You’re going to have to ease yourself into it with some part time work first. Then, you can think about going to nearly full time, and eventually work your way up. The smaller hours you do to begin with, the easier it’ll be to slowly up and up them!
Make Sure You’re Giving Yourself A Life
Again, another essential. You have to make sure that somewhere around all of this working and being a good family, that you’re taking some time to actually give yourself a life. Whether this life be going to the gym and winding down, or out for friends with a drink, it’s just so important that you are giving yourself a life!
