Oz the Great and Powerful

Have you seen the trailer for the new movie Oz the Great and Powerful? I have. It looks awesome! I can’t wait to see it on the big screen!

OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL hits theaters March 8, 2013!

Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

When small-time magician Oscar Diggs (James Franco) pulls one flimflam too many, he finds himself hurled into the fantastical Land of Oz where he must somehow transform himself into the great and powerful Wizard—and just maybe into a better man as well.

Disney and Hanes Team Up for a Sock Drive

Disney and Hanes are celebrating the new movie The Odd Life of Timothy Green by having a sock drive! (We are going to see this movie on Thursday, can’t wait!)

Do you know how many people do not have socks? It’s sad. This is a great cause and a great opportunity for parents to give back to the community with their children.

Hanes and Walt Disney Studios have teamed up with the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions for “Operation Sock Drive,” providing new socks to families in need.

How can you help?

Now through September 3, 2012, you can take a new pair of socks to any community drop-off or Carmike and Marcus theater locations. Hanes will match all donations (up to 10,000 pairs), helping to bring comfort to families in need.

BRAVE Hits Theaters Tomorrow!

We went to see BRAVE last night and I was thoroughly impressed! You know how when a movie comes out and you’ve seen all the commercials and you’ve pretty much seen the whole movie? This was not the case with BRAVE. I was pleasantly surprised and excited!

I took my 4 year old daughter with me. I was very happy that she sat through the whole movie! Usually she’s bored in theaters. She enjoyed the movie, but there were a few scenes in which she hid her eyes. There was some violence that upset her, but she loved the rest of the movie! We saw it in 3D, which made the movie so real. Savannah gig

Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In “Brave,” a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts.

Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.

Of course, these little guys were adorable!!  They get into a lot of mischief! If you were hesitant about seeing this movie, don’t be! Go see it!

Magazines I Like.

Do you read magazines? I have a few favorites, but it seems like I never get a chance to read them! There are only so many hours in the day!

I try to skim through them while eating breakfast or lunch. This was easier to do when I worked outside the home. Now there are many distractions!

If I had to recommend a magazine to a friend, I have three. All You has cool tips, latest trends, recipes and coupons! What I really love it it has real people in it. The models are real people, tips are from other moms, some of which are bloggers! I always find something good in All You.

My next one is for parents – Family Fun. I say that, but it would also be great for teachers. Family Fun is through Disney and they sooo many great ideas for crafts, kid friendly meals and travel destinations for families. I haven’t had one of their magazines disappoint!

There are so many places to get good rates on magazines too! Many list all magazine prices in a list on relevance so you can choose what you like best!

My last suggestion is for toddlers or young children. It’s Baby Bug. I bought this when my son was little. We loved it! It’s not a regular magazine, but more like a small book. Each book has several short stories that are easy to understand with great pictures. I saved most of them and now read them to Savannah. This would be a great gift as well.

Costumes Are So Much Fun!

Dress up is a big hit in our house these days. Savannah is the perfect age for dress up! Her favorites right now are Ariela and a witch.

A really great way to get children’s outfits for dress up is to buy them right after Halloween. I bought a really nice black velvety witch dress after Halloween for 50% off and held for Christmas. Savannah loved it! I also bought an Ariel wig and white gloves to add as presents.

Did you see out super hero party theme we did for Halloween? We went to Sea World’s Halloween party and we all dress up as Superheroes. I thought everyone would be dressed up, but mostly it was just the kids. However, then we went to Disney’s Halloween Party. There just about everyone was dressed up. We went as pirates this time. It was so much fun! We really had a great time dressing in a theme. While at Disney, we saw some great costumes! Makes me want to go back this year!

Have you and your family ever dressed in a theme?
