Music Monday – La Bella Stella

I was asked to check out La Bella Stella in preparation for Earth Day, I couldn’t say no. Recess Music is an award winning  company that wants to awaken  kids to the wonders of our planet through Earth-friendly music. La Bella Stella does just that.

La Bella Stella is Earth-friendly music. The music teaches kids about Earth and beyond….

I guess we’ve been listening to much Pink. We weren’t that fond of this CD. It has good music and  has cool songs by great musicians. The music is mellow and calm and very Earthy. Maybe too mellow to listen to in the car. I should have tried it at home closer to bed time….

Here is some of my notes while listening…

I love the Dark has a jazzy feel to it, think 1920’s. My immediate though was an oldies song.

Gravity has a a country rock fell and talks about the pros and cons of gravity.

Galaxy Song is a high energy song, probably the most energetic on the whole album. Reminded me of the Barnyard movie. The whistling part.

Some other titles:

Plutoa funny, upbeat ballad in rhyming couplets about Pluto’s discovery and subsequent demotion.

Neptune Lullaby –  features a sumptuously symphonic string sound, replete with strong choral singing.

Great reasons to purchase this CD!!

The Recess Music “Celebrate Earth” series seeks to assist the cause of protecting and preserving our environment by donating a portion of the proceeds from each release to a selected environmental organization.   A portion of the proceeds from La Bella Stellawill benefit the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center in Concord, New Hampshire, which is dedicated to educating learners of all ages by actively engaging them in the exploration of astronomy, aviation, Earth and space science.

La Bella Stella is available online at www.recessmusic.com <http://www.recessmusic.com/> , amazon.com and its international affiliates, iTunes, and brick and mortar retailers throughout the U.S.

The CD is set to release Tuesday March 27th. It sells for $12.99 and is geared toward ages 4-11.

Do You Have a Rain Barrel?

We have wanted to get a rain barrel for a while now. We’ve always recycled. however about 3 years ago, we really started to be more eco-conscious. We started a compost, stopped using so many paper products and we recycle everything imaginable!

We talked about getting a rain barrel. It would be perfect since we have gutters and the rain water can run directly through the gutters into the barrel. It’s called rain harvesting. Then we could use the rain water to water our grass or plants or even rinse out buckets.

Look at this one. How pretty and it certainly doesn’t look like a rain water barrel, does it?

This one has to my favorite one! This is so natural looking and I love the fountain part of it.

So here is my problem…. we moved and we no longer have gutters. I don’t think I can get one now.

Do you have a rain barrel? Can I have one without gutters? I guess I can just collect water from the sky. lol

Mightynest – Cool Eco Gifts – Review/Giveaway

Mightynest started by parents Kristen and Chris Conn, has some amazingly cool eco and green gifts and everyday products. After Kristen and Chris had their first child, they wanted to learn more about products that were safe for the children and for the environment. They did a lot of research, but wanted to make it easier on other parents to find great products and Mightynest was born!

Mightynest has items for the home, kids and babies and bath. They have cleaning products, wooden toys and bamboo wash cloths. BUT, unlike other websites they are not too many items to choose from. I’ve been on some sites where there are so many things to choose form, it’s get confusing. Not with Mightynest.

Check out some of these items:

Glass straws by GlassDharma are super cool! I have a few different glass straws and love them to pieces. My kids are a little jealous, cause I won’t let em use them. lol

Look at this fun Eco house! It has Wind Turbines and Solar Panels. It also comes with en electric scooter !

We are a reusable water bottle family. Everywhere we go, we tote along water bottle for everyone. The only kind I personally like are the plastic ones. Of course, I make sure they are PBA free, but the metal and steel bottles I don’t use. I can taste the metal, I’m sure I’m not the only one.
So when Mightynest offered to send me a glass water bottle I jumped at the chance to try it out!

Mightynest sent me a a glass water bottle from LifeFactory. I’ve been using it none stop for the last couple weeks. It goes to work, shopping and on trips with me. I love it! Here it is at my desk at work.

It took a little getting use to. It’s heavier than my PBA free plastic water bottle. But I do have to say I like drinking out of glass better. It seems, I don’t know, cleaner? Weird,  but I don’t know how to explain it.
The glass water bottle from LifeFactory is dishwasher safe and leak-proof. It has a silicone sleeve, which makes it easy to grip and helps to prevent breakage.
Mightynest would like to give one Mommy Has to Work a 22oz Glass Water Bottle by LifeFactory in the color of your choice!

Plus check out the Mightynest blog, where you can learn healthy and natural living tips.

I received a water bottle to facilitate this review. Opinions are my own.
