Critical Condition by Richard L. Marby, M.D.

CriticalCondition

It began as a quiet dinner party honoring Dr. Shannon Frasier’s colleague, but became a nightmare when a man was shot on her lawn, reviving emotions from a similar episode a decade ago. Then a midnight call from her sister, Megan, causes Shannon to fear that her sister is on drugs again.
Her “almost-fiancé” Dr. Mark Gilbert’s support only adds to Shannon’s feelings of guilt, since she can’t bring herself to fully commit to him. She turns for help to her pastor-father, only to learn that he’s just been diagnosed with leukemia. Shannon thought it couldn’t get any worse. Then the late-night, threatening phone calls begin, the rough voice asking, “What did he say before he died?”

With everything around her in a critical state, simply staying alive will require all the resources and focus Shannon has.

I love getting books to review. Of course I love to read and the books I receive are books I probably wouldn’t have bought. Okay that may not be fair. I don’t buy a lot of books new. I search the thrift stores and garage sales and my mother gives me some as well. I’d love to start a book exchange club in my community….Hmmm I really don’t need another project to do.

Anyway back to my review. Critical Condition was a great read! It’s one of those books you don’t won’t to stop reading. Perfect for a day at the pool or beach. If you like a good mystery you will love this book. There are many twists and turns and it keeps you guessing what will happen next! Dr. Shannon Frasier, the main character is a strong woman who went through a lot and continues to help her sister and her community.

A must for your summer reading list!

Cinco de Mayo Fiesta!

I was sent a package and gift card from Publix and General Mills to facilitate this review.

Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo is May 5th! One day I would love to go out and celebrate, but for now I’m happy to celebrate at home with my children.

The other night we celebrated Cinco Mayo and had a fun dinner with lots of Ola’s being said. One thing I forgot was some Margaritas. I had a rough time with my camera that night and some pictures were taken with my phone and they came out blurry.

Cinco de Mayo

I made our usual Mexican dinner made up of nachos, hard and soft tacos, rice and corn. I added Old El Paso Frozen Enchiladas this time. My son loves the hard tacos with beef and cheese. My daughter loves the nachos (beef and cheese) although she has been known to eat a hard taco. My husband likes soft tacos with beef, cheese, corn and lettuce. I love all it with beans, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, etc.

Yes we wore mustaches while we ate. Okay only for a few pictures, they are itchy and hairy. Not sure how my husband keeps one full-time.

009

The frozen Enchiladas we good but a bit spicy. I liked it but no one else would try it. That’s okay – more for me!

If you live near Publix, they have a ton of Cinco de Mayo foods on sale! It’s not too late to have your own celebration!

Until May 7th, Publix has boneless chicken breasts and Bell peppers on sale for some awesome Fajitas. Lean Beef is also on sale for some beef tacos and lettuce and tomatoes to top them off with. Hass Avocados and Tostitos Salsa is on sale. There is coupon in the sale paper for $1 off any 2 Old El Paso cooking sauces. All Old El Paso products are 25% off and the Old El Paso Meals for Two are Buy One Get One Free.

Lots of great savings and what great way to celebrate!

How do you celebrate Cinco de Mayo?

MilkSplash Adds a Splash of Flavor to Your Milk!

1779957_654406281286881_1821375218_n

I’m lucky to have children that love milk. Just regular ol’ milk. But what kid doesn’t like to sweeten the milk once and awhile. My husband falls into this category as well. Okay – I like some chocolate milk too.

So there’s chocolate and strawberry to choose from.  Wow, that’s it?

Not anymore!! MilkSplash has come out with 5 new fun flavors!! What is Milk Splash? Milk Splash is a delicious, zero calorie milk flavoring. The flavors are : Cocoa Loco, Sir Strawberry Swirl, Orange Cream Dream, Cookies ‘n Cream and Jammin’ Banana.

Don’t they sound delicious?

We were sent the Cookies n’ Cream and Sir Strawberry Swirl to try. Now the directions say to add one “gentle squeeze” to an 8 ounce glass of milk.

I took out two glasses, filled them with milk and squeezed. I guess I kinda thought it would stop when a squeeze came out, but boy did I put too much in! My mind was confusing this with the other brands that you have to add a lot too. The milk was super, duper sweet. The kids liked it but man it was sweet.

I waited a few days and tried the Cookies n’ Cream again. This time only one gentle squeeze was added and Yumm! It has a light flavorful taste!

I love it! And so do the children!!

Why one gentle squeeze? MilkSplash is very concentrated and you must add it to milk. Do not drink by itself. They do have artificial and natural ingredients. However they are looking at an all natural ingredient version to come out in the future. MilkSplash is gluten free and allergen free.

Milk Splash come in little bottles so they can easily be placed in your bag or purse. Perfect to take to dinner and add to your child’s milk. Plus the bottles are adorable!
