When Does School Start?

We are halfway into our second week of summer break and I’m already hearing the complaints of nothing to do. The cries and whines from my sweet daughter because she has no one to play with.

I’ve been planning something to do everyday!! Apparently it’s not enough!!

We’ve gone to a pool party. We’ve gone to the movies. We’ve gone out to eat, shopping and the pool. We had a sleepover and a birthday party. We did our nails. She is in Vacation Bible School this week. We’ve done crafts.

I love playing with my children and planning fun things to do,  but come on! Why can’t she play by herself??

Anyone else having these issues?

I'm a mother of 2 who likes to get involved in too much! Besides writing here I started a non-profit, I'm on the PTO board, very active in my community and volunteer in the school. I enjoy music, reading, cooking, traveling and spending time with my family. We just adopted our 3rd cat and love them all!

  1. Sounds like you have been busy! I love those nails, super cute!!! Great pictures!!

  2. We have to get creative, but it has been an adjustment.

  3. We haven’t had those issues yet, but probably will in July.

  4. That’s amazing that she’s bored already and with all the things you have planned for her! Guess she misses school!

  5. I’m surprised the boredom has set in already. I always think of August as the month of boredom!

  6. I know right, I finally had to put him in too summer camp.

  7. I have two so I don’t hear this much, but I can understand her frustration…maybe some friends her age? Love the nails by the way!

  8. I’ll send my kids to play because we haven’t done half as much as you have! They’ll be in heaven!

  9. WOW you have done a lot, my kids just kinda play with each other and we try to do things when we can it is hard when we work.

  10. I thought I was the only one going through this! Like you, I thought of everything for my son to do this summer, yet he still isn’t satisfied. ~lol~

  11. Wow. Already. I would think the boredom wouldn’t set in until August.

  12. I guess I should feel pretty lucky that my daughter was content to stay home most days during summer vacation when she was younger!

  13. This is exactly why I plan our huge summer trips. It is so much nicer to see the country and create memories than listen to them say they are bored at home. At least it works for us. On the other hand, I homeschool the boys, so there is no escaping them at all lol.

  14. We have been doing a lot of fun summer activities! I told my kids if I hear anything about them being bored I will find a chore for them to do. So far, so good!

  15. This has been a great summer so far! My son actually likes to read and play video games by himself, so I do get some “me” time, either to work or for myself. And we have been doing a lot of fun stuff… I wish the summer lasted a lot longer than it does… I hate thinking about school starting back (7 weeks from today, to be exact). 🙁

  16. That’s too bad she’s bored already. I can’t relate. I have 4 siblings. We always had each other, our cousins and neighborhood kids to play with all summer.
